I am trying hard to like this guy, but i heard some bad things about him and seen some videos that prove some of those rumors. sorta...

people claim he is racist, and cite examples but it doesnt convince me. like how he doesnt like various artists, who happen to be white so people say he is racist. that doesnt really phase me. or i havent seen the best evidence yet.

the worst thing i saw was this low res video (its clear that its real and its him) of him throwing a tantrum back stage at the mtv music awards because he didnt win any awards, and he was screaming because they gave album of the year to someone else (who happened to be white)......

.....but, that may not be evidence against him either because aparently the only reason he attended the awards show (and preformed on stage there) is because mtv SWORE that if he showed up he would 100% win the album of the year award or something... but they game it to someone else instead... which is the excuse for the tantrum.

Some of his music is really good but i cant like a persons music if i dont respect him/her 100%.

Does anyone have any incite as to his true character?

the guys **** and arrogant and thinks his brand of music is > his peers.Anyone that knows a little about the guy can tell you that.I cant speak on the rascism part because i simply just dont know enough.No doubt hes contraversial and his antics are at times way over the top.

Well i'm not sure where to stand on the arrogance part because all rappers i ever heard of say they are the greatest in almost every song. but from what i take it is people think he is truely arrogant, or worse than simply arrogant.

i know he has had to overcome some hard times... like that one song "through the wire" mentions one thing.

You say most rappers you heard are arrogant yet your here posting on this particular rapper.His antics are what put him over the other guys.If kanye were an actor at the acadamy awards he'd make a clear frown if someone else got the award because he feels that his performance is so much greater than his competitions.

I cant remember wich award show it was but kanye won best new artist award and had the audacity to say this in his acceptance speech. " People Wondered What I Would Do Had I Not Won This Award Tonight..........I Guess we'll Never Know".He didnt really pay homage to his peers or anything.

Other rappers typically dont say stuff like that.I like his music but the guys ego is a great turn off much like 50 cent's.

well people say he is like 50 cent in that way. at first i hated 50 cent, then i liked his music. now after a while he is just so so. same pattern for his music.

as for kanye, i hated his music and thought he was an ass at first. then i started liking some of his songs, and after researching him im on the fence about his personality.

I've heard also that pretty much all his songs he sampled from other artists. I don't know if it's the truth or not, maybe someone can back me up on that?

To be fair, almost all modern music is based on earlier works or at least well tested theories.

Yeah, of course. But my understanding is that he is basically using others' music and spinning it into his own, whereas by your meaning someone might know a certain method works but they still have their original concept of it.

I dunno, maybe I'm mixing it up.

I still stand by my opinion though that Kanye West is just another attention whore.

You apparently don't get Paris Hilton, do you? She's not that dumb or overly gaudy; its an act. Paris knows damn well that her whole personality and fame comes from her acting like a dumb, rich, spoiled blonde, so she plays it up as much as she possibly can so as to keep the cash she's been racking in coming in (yes, she's actually getting paid well for deliberately acting like a total twat... crazy, huh?:p).
