Hey,

I just had a humiliating loss to Nuke gen in skirmish. (hard enemy)

I almost had him early in the game, but once his eco got stronger he pushed me back and then started destorying me bit by bit via nuke migs + long-range attacks. Usually I beat AI easily. But this match was quite different. :S

Anywho, my questions is:
Who are the toughest AI generals to beat in skirmish?

Probably Granger and the Kassad, since they tend to really be nasty in terms of micro and harrassment, even for a comp.

If it was for the generals challenge, as u don't specify the general used, i'll just make a generic plan.
First, this is probably the easiest AI general, for two simple facts: he just doesn't build gatts and he doesn't build dozers (so every building down will never be reconstructed). As so, it's very easy for any non-GLA faction just by sticking to Choppers (Commanches or garrisoned lixes) to absolutely keep him at bay, and further pump him with planes to death. It don't even take that much time.

GLA takes it a little harder (GLA can't fly) but it's perfectly doable. First, run to the middle point (near the stationed nukecannons) and place there the palace. Garrison your Jarmen Kell in the beginning of the urban area to completely shut down the infantry. Use techs (or techRPGs) to defend the palace and to attack incomming nukecannons. Your main objective here is to clipple its tech production (aka Prop center) to stop nukecannons and overlords. U can bring down their factories for even better effect. Question is, with what?! The answer is, Bombtrucks (two per factory or 1 only, if u buy explosive upgrade).

Skirmish is answered below.

Any China. USA is the most powerful faction with its MDvees, but the AI just don't know how to use'em. GLA can also be painful due to its mass production but i say chinas due to its tough units.
Anyway the solution is: bunker yourself. AI is mindless.

hum? maybe superweapon general? she tends to build a lot of superweapons, and if u are going on 1vs2 comp, with some other general like tank that keep harassing u, then its even harder i guess

Two things i forgot to mention, yes, I'm talking skirmish.

and im using the advanced AI mod 0.95.

Edit: Just watched a replay of AI nuke gen - he started off by making 3 dozers. got 3 migs and 2 helix's + some GATTLING tanks / cannons - all within the first 5 mins. i like this mod.

Yep. Yay for AI money cheating.

Yep. Yay for AI money cheating.

I hear ya. And don't forget the 25% damage buff to their units!

I know this is a little off-topic and belongs in the tactics section.... but,

How the heck can I (china tank gen) defeat USA rocketVees?

I find them excruitingly annoying... I've lost countless tanks to this tactic and am yet to find a proper way around it.

USAAF is the worst, his deadly airforce combined with rocketvees make it VERY difficult for China... especially on maps like tournament desert.

The best counter for tank is Proplords + ECMs, with gatts to deal with aircraft and laserlock MDs. Until you get that far, horded tank hunters with gattling tank backup will keep vees away. You can also chase vee mixes around with troop crawlers filled with veteran Red Guard, backed up with gatts to prevent the vees from running you down.

The firmest counter early on for China is a fast airfield with BN MiGs, but you don't want to try that as Tank because of your $1600 MiGs.

Also, USAF doesn't even need to make an airfield against the Chinas unless they need to counter helixes. They can just fast-tech to S&D, drop some carpet bombers at their supplies and war factories, and vee lame any non-inf China to death from there.

I, as a Toxin or Stealth player, would say I have most difficulties against SW and Demo in 1vs1 Hard AI skirmishes.
SW because of those pests known as Aurora Alphas plus the fact that she builds like 6 Particle Cannons. The trick with her is to lame her back: I build 3/4 Scud Storms and take out her CC first, then her power, then her airfield. Without power and Airfield, she's worthless.
Demo... well I don't have a good strategy. The Scud Launchers and Demobikes make him a bitch to hold off. Usually I place a Palace at each opening and fill it with RPG Troopers. While I try and hold him off, I build Gammabuses and Rocketbuggies and I try to find a good spot to Sneak Attack him.

The easiest to me are infantry general (toxin tunnel joy :) ) and Air Force: place lots of Quads as defence, he barely uses ground units. One or two stinger sites will draw fire and the jets will less likely shoot your Quads.
Tank isn't too hard neither once you have a good defence. He has no artillery so usually, you can just let your defence do it's work without having to do something yourself. The AI is too stupid to find a way around my palace anyways :)
