Upon popular request, here is where you make your characters. Several things i like to point out, if you want a fantastic character (genetically made vampire for an example) just pm me so I can look it over and ok it. Also please remember your character (if you set it up that way) was born and raised inside a domed, crowded city where most people have never seen the bottom. Just think what type of psychological effect it has.
Characters should be written up like this:
Name: What is the name of your character. Include nicknames (if any) in parenthesis. Also not every one have last names.
Age: Age of your character. People live a little longer here so it is not unheard of to live up to 120 or even 130. (explains why the city is crowded heh)
Discription: What does your character look like. Since genetic research has reached an almost mythical point, anything is possible. But major changes (extra arms, anything noticeable) are usually frowned upon and can lead to trouble. Changing the color of your skin, hair or eyes are acceptable. Also include clothes. (Clothes are less of a problem, a person can literally clothes themselves in a hologram only and be ok.)
Occupation: What does your character do for a living. It has to be a useful job for the city. You can still be anything but you may have to do some fast talking to convince the city to give you a spot and a permit to do it. ( if you want to own your own company) You can have a dummy job and have an illegal job in the background.
Living area: Where your character live. Most of the action is taking place at the New York Megalopolis area. The city is split into several different levels ranging from R to A, A being on top. Middle class citizen is around G,H.
Background: What pass actions make up your character. characters usually do not live with their parents (Domestic Cohabitants) when going to school. Will explain the school system in the other thread. Here (http://forums.cncden.com/showthread.php?t=20775) is the main thread for more information about what a character needs to know.
Major skills: What is your character good at. Can include piloting a rotor or bluffing.
Contacts: Any notable people your characters know. This includes relatives, bosses, friends in high places, legal or illegal.
Example, here is one of my characters I made:
Name: Joe Wilkerson
Age: 31
Discription: Standing at 6 feet and 2 inches and weighs around 180, Joe does not have a threating pose. He has pale skin and brown, cropped hair. He does not follow fashion but instead wear a gray long coat, brown short sleeve shirt and jeans. (fashion is a weak point for this poor fellow.)
Occupation: A police detective. New York Megalopolis police department.
Living area: The Hanson Arcology, level P.
Background: Like most kids, Joe left his parents when he came to school at the age of 5. He behaved himself fairly well until he was in trade school when he started to pick fights with kids. Th teachers where concerned and sent a police officer to talk with Joe. The police officer was not kind with his words to Joe but after that, he wanted to be a police officer. Joe went through trade school and signed up with the police department where he was placed as a detective. while going through technical school, he meet Marry and fell in love. They became cohabs. and got the papers to have a child. Susan was born a year later. While Joe was on a case, the terrorists sent armed men to Joe's house and killed everyone. Joe grieved but never caught the killers.
Major skills: Handy with a stunner, can run a computer in circles, observant.
Contacts:Skinner-Underground arms dealer.
Sam Thomson-Fellow cop who uses a tranquilizer sniper rifle.
Fay-Augmented human who escaped and now runs a gym school
Cat-friend who runs a karate school and has connections to the criminal side
Now The city does claim to have a tight hold on legal and illegal actions but it can't be everywhere at once. The lower down the levels you go, the more likely a government person will not help/catch you. Yes there is a black market but suggest you don't flaunt that knowledge.

Name: Ed Salem
Age: 38
Appearance: Ed stands 6'3" and keeps a healthy white complexion. His hair is blond, his eyes are brown, and he keeps himself in shape. He wears a white shirt in his office and a brown leather jacket when outside. On his vigilante missions, he dresses in a black overcoat and hat, so that he's not easily recognized.
Occupation: Ed is invariably, though inaccurately, called a doctor by locals. In "P" Level today, he can fix any problem with your bionics and give you new ones if you need an organ or leg replaced. For almost as long as his business has been running, he also occasionally acts as night patrol in the area, as the understaffed security cannot keep up with the illegal activity in "P" Level, especially after nightfall.
Living Space: Ed lives in "P" Level, in a relatively large house which doubles as his office.
Background: Ed Salem was raised in "D" Level, and always had the knack for all things mechanical. He decided as a youngster that he wanted to be a policeman as was his mother, but his innate abilities convinced his family that he would serve society better as a medical technician. After his training was complete, he was so disgusted with the deterioration of his body that he spent a vacation building himself naturally into the powerful man he is today. Being a speed freak of a surgeon, preferring to operate with hand tools when he could, he one day learned that the administration had decided his skills were worthy of a "B" level hospital.
Shortly after the promotion, something happened. He will not talk about his reasons for leaving the upper sectors entirely and opening a private practice in "P" Level, but Ed will gladly tell his patrons stories of the beautiful upper city. From time to time, old friends of his from "B" level drop by and try to coax Ed back to the top, where he's always welcome. As for Ed, he doesn't intend to return in the near future. Cut off from his old supply, he continued his practice in the lower city with his own improvised devices, which he spent decades experimenting on in his free time.
Since he'd wanted to be a constable all his life, he also began working alongside the local police as a peacekeeper. Although Ed is knowingly committing the crime of unsanctioned vigilance, his secret occupation is under the protection and support of the local police, which welcomes the outside assistance with open arms. Why would they want to bring such a good citizen under the hammer of the law? They continue to transmit new criminal data to his PC on a daily basis.
Recently, Ed has been obsessing over his adopted daughter, trying to keep up with her growth with constant operations. Alicia lost her family and much of her body in a "Q" Level industrial accident and was left for dead. As such, she is registered as "recently deceased", which Ed plans on correcting someday.
Skills: Ed is not an ordinary doctor. He fixes health issues by replacing failing body parts with more reliable artificial ones. Given the resources of his laboratory, he can go as far as reanimating the recently deceased. He is always prepared to apply first aid when outside his office. He is very strong and has excellent reflexes, which contribute nicely to his illicit occupation as a defender. On this job, he holsters two large pistols, which he infrequently needs to use, as he casts a long, fearsome shadow over troublemakers.
Contacts:
Alicia - adopted daughter, 8.
Sharon - friend, 31. Bionics technician from "B" Level.
Christopher - portly local, 88. Runs a local pub.
Ed is held in high regard by the Level "P" police force, who is glad to keep his business a secret.

Name: Brone
Age: 41
Appearance: A stouty tall figure about 6'4" who never believed in sports that involved running, but still has kept strong legs for marching and usually wears blue jeans that look like they have not bean worn, has a very bland ghostly blond hair and has it styled in a small round bump, this main bump leads to other small ones but it reaches the highest on his right side, he has a monobrow, and wears a brown business jacket over his suit, which is blue and with a small checkered pattern
Occupation: He is a business marketer who has a pretty good idea of where he is going and gets along with those who don't make him act in his michevious manner, the marketing sector is located on floor "C", but even though he seemingly has a good work area, he is often made fun of as he is a little out of class for the attair, but is complimented on his work, and even though his name is second on the list for a raise, he doesn't get one because of his boss
Living Place: Brone lives on level "I", and despite his income of money where he could have rised up and had a very wealthy life with his partner Gob he decided to stay behind and make achieve his dream of being a writer of a book he doesn't give anyone much information about
Background: He had been living on level "D" for a long time and was making ideas for his story, but suddenly opportunity for a better quality of living and a fun life arrived, and instead of going with his friend Gob to become a successful business partner he chose to see life from a different angle and have time to write a book, and then moved to level "I"
His friend Gob was dissapointed and became a success, and contacted Gob who had more time being in a less crowded neighborhood (with a longer drive) for advice, still keeping their friendship, Brone was delighted on writing his book but suddenly things started to go wrong when he started to rise up in where he was working, thus making the what if scenario become reality
People describe Brone as obnoxious and self-centered, which isn't true, he thinks about how he could make others lives worse then his now that he has been split up by three choices, Become a business partner and not write books, Have success in writing and stay a writer, or even move up and never have time to write and become a working man and help the community. Several other options occurred, and he lately has spent his time solving the best way to use his time more effeciently
His childhood was a blur as he repressed after the fire killing his mother had passed, and he went on to live with his father, who was not the talking man, except when Brone was a teenager he heard his father day dreadful things, making Brone become mischevious, and soon he met his best friend, Gob, the two were two very similar people in ideas, but Brone and Gob got along just fine as the both sought to be powerful and well known
Skills: Highly inciteful writing techniques and planning strategist, who has a great conscience for performing wicked arts and is a character that is emotionally distressed and works harder when is given a point in the right direction
Contacts: Gob, age 40
Tyra (desk clerk), age 37
George (boss), age 54
Phil Ken S. (hired writing administrator for Brone), age 52

Name: Ruth Rhendon
Age: 67
Discription: Thanks to all the medical technology and anti-aging effects available, she looks more like (to us, OOC in 2007) 55 or so. Wrinkles definitely visible but nothing exceptional, mostly whitened wavy hair slightly on the short side although there's still a touch of light brown that hasn't faded yet. 5'6" and an average build, fair-skinned, usually carries a serious but not harsh demeanor. Rarely laughs out loud but is known to crack a few small smiles throughout the day. Often dresses in loose, comfortable clothing of a light fabric, mostly of solid colors.
Occupation: Mid-level manager in the Bureau of Expansion and Planning (BEP). This department oversees and grants/rejects permit applications for any new infrastructure a corporation in the city wishes to build, and also is involved in government decisions as to when sections of an arcology ought to be added-onto to support the growing population (although the growth isn't especially fast due to the necessity of applying for child permits, the high life expectancy means it does grow nonetheless).
Living area: Has a new dwelling in level D of the NY Megalopolis. Used to be in level E but was moved up to D after a recent promotion.
Background: She was always near the head of her class throughout high school and college and consquently was recommended to work in an official government capacity. Always dedicated to her work, she spent most her adult years working in the Social Services department. Her recent promotion which moved her up to level D also involved a move to the BEP, but she still keeps in touch with many of her colleagues from the SS who are mostly on levels E and F. Her ambition and school aptitude as well as lack of care about romance in general discouraged most guys from trying to win her heart. She never really planned to not get into a domestic cohabitation; it just never ended up happening, and her only slightly regret about it is not having the experience of a son or daughter to care for. She has a very caring attitude towards others, even strangers, and there's almost nothing she wouldn't do for someone if she thought they needed it. She's not quite as zealous and amibitious as when she was younger, but has developed a strong sense of justice and believes she is doing her part to make life fair and efficient for the greater good of as many people as she can.
Major skills: A quick learner (yes you can teach an old dog new tricks), and has good communication skills, which make her both an effective administrator and a good social diplomat able to tactfully get her way in most circumstances.
Contacts: J Kana - the friendly trainer at her women's fitness club
Benson Baines - her superior at the BEP
Jon and Day Anderson - a domestic cohabiting couple who she used to work alongside in social services
Clement - the nosy, disgruntled, semi-retired police chief who lives next door
**********************************************************************************
Name: Elia
Age: 24
Discription: 5'8", average-thin build, tan/light brown skin tone (think someone who's half-caucausian and half-hispanic or half-asian to us) with thick dark hair just past her shoulders. Somewhat shifty eyes, make her seem a bit suspicious although really she just likes being aware of her surroundings. Dresses casually as you'd expect of a student.
Occupation: College student
Living area: Standard offcampus student-designated housing in O level.
Background: Most her age would have already completed a college degree program now, but a rare brain disease she had as a child meant 4 years spent in the hospital fluctuating in and out of comas, so she still has nearly 2 years of study left. Eventually advances in medical technology allowed her to live a normal life thanks to a few tiny electronic devices implanted into her skull that keep the nerve signals in her brain properly functioning. The scars are so small they'd be tough to see even without her hair hiding them. She's dedicated and studious but her collegiate aptitude isn't the greatest so she's barely making it in class. She's also somewhat absent-minded which doesn't help. Elia was born in the periphery, so her adoptive parents told her, but has no memory of what it's like there or how she got up to the top; all she knows is her story is rare and she's never going back there. She has a lot of acquaintances but no close friends, and doesn't spend a lot of free fun time but when she doesn't it's usually down on level P.
Major skills: She can imitate most people's handwriting (although she's never used this to cheat in school despite her high school roomates wanting her to). She doens't play any particular sport seriously but is in great general athletic shape.
Contacts: Basically just her apt mates, Sheena and Esther, and then her adoptive parents Martin and Mavis, although she doesn't really talk to them all that much.

Turns out I'm gonna be really busy for the next couple of weeks (finals:dead:), but if I get a chance, I'll post my character. If I don't get a chance, it's going to have to wait until Christmas break.

Same with me. That and I'll be attending my friends wedding in a couple of weeks so that won't help much either.

I Hope it's not too late and this RPG isn't dead yet, but if it's alive I'd like to start my RPGing experience here. I've got my character right here:
Name: Rigel Owen
Age: 15
Description: Standing about 6 feet tall, Rigel sports a head of unkempt, dark brown hair and unusually
matching dark yellow eyes. Nobody seems to be able to explain it, but after the INS tested his genes, he was found harmless and no further explanation was needed or given. Supporting his head is a fairly muscular and tough build, but nothing big or buff; or show-offy for that matter.
Occupation: none/school
Living Area: Rigel was born and raised in the I living section of the city.
Background: Born and raised in the I section of the city, Rigel has lived a mostly peaceful life over the years. However, due to a recent event, His parents were taken away from him by the authorities and he was seperated from both of his sisters. His lifetime goal is to seek out his lost loved ones; at any cost.
Major Skills: Old style fighting (melee weapons and fists)
Contacts: Andrew, age 14, school friend

Nick I don't think you quite understand the world of City. usually when a person has commited a major crime and is caught, they tend to go through R&R and nobody has came out of R&R the same person that went in. Also It is Extremely rare for one person to go to one domed city to another. Only Coperate leaders do that at all really. To the people of New York Megalopolis, the rest of the world is unknown, most think that L.A. Megalopolis is just a myth.
Also you should say which level you "Mansion" is on. Most likely it is on the lower levels where there is less police enforcement and plenty of places to hide. However your mansion should not look like a mansion since something that nice in the lower levels would be out of place. An you should know there is no "beach" in city. It is all domed on. No sunlight at all.
If your character is a gangster then he has to have contacts. A criminal in City does not last long without friends.
I am not trying to bash you but show you where it needs to be improved. I have been busy with other things and have no devoted a lot of time to this so it kinda died. looks like an interesting character.

It wasn't your fault.

As far as this particular thread, you're about 7 months too late. As far as arriving during a time when any RPG on this board had a hope of lasting, unfortunately you're several years too late. :(
