View Full Version : could someone tell me the basics of making a MOD

could someone tell me how to get the buildmod and buildmap windows batch files to work the buildmod keeps coming up with the dos screen and then i end up having to close it down and the buildmap doesnt do anything except bring up the dos screen and then closes the dos screen

could someone explain with instructions how to make a mod please i would really appreciate it because so far i have only managed to do editing with xml file and nothing else and with that i dont know how to apply thm to the game

i need instructions like where to click where to go

im using windows vista home premium

It opens de cmd (DOS) because it is a program designed to run in the Terminal, it is also a "compiler" not a SDK.

You need to give it an argument, the instructions are in the Documentation.

Perhaps this thread can help you:

It states the changes needed in the XMLs to add walls in. You will also need to create a mod.xml file (this one is used by the buildmod.bat to know wich files to include).

Once the mod has been compiled it will automatically make a BIG file in the Mod folder.

The you will also need to make a TheNameOfYourMod_0.1.SkuDef file, it is a text file that states that your mod will be loaded and wich version of the game needs to be started.

sorry im making a late message gave up on the post but now replying

i dont want to make walls i want to do these things
right now im testing a new program called mod project from sdk extras download that i got from www.cncmods.net (http://www.cncmods.net)

i'm editing scrin and making no changes except cost and build times to test to see if it works
it doesnt and ive put up a thread to ask why

i want to make scrin disintigrators and shock troopers go into bunkers and buildings and shoot from them
and
make buzzers automaticly teleport across a short distance of the map to land on top of units or near to them and kill them faster
and make mastermind take control of more than one unit
and make scrin harvesters be able to shoot lightning or have a iron storm on top of it all the time and not when dead
i want neutral buildings to be able to be repaired
or engineers\assimilators\saboteur to repair neutral structures
and reinforcement bays should drop more units every like 1 minute
and maybe a neutral building to give money every 1 minute like in generls Zero Hour

of course some of these ideas may have been done before in other peoples mods

except i thing i just need to find a tutorial on xml editing
