I've noticed that quite a few of you are talented with photoshop or simular.

I've recently been playing around with it to create my own signatures etc for other forums and even spray paints in Counter-Strike etc..

The one thing that's bugging me and I can't seem to find (probably not looking hard enough) is how to make my Text (Name in this case) Fade in and out on my signature...

It's not the best Sig in the world anyway but this is it..

Any tips or hints? and yes. I'm car obsessed >_>

I'm guessing you'd use a gradient and a layer mask... that's just a guess on my part. There's a lot of tutorials out there. 2 Minute Tricks is a good one.

If I understand correctly, you want the text to fade out into the background?

Now, there MUST be a better way to do this, but in ten minutes of poking around I couldn't find it. I got it working though, and here's how:

-Make your text in your chosen font.
-Using your magic wand (set the tolerance high- around 50) click anywhere on the text layer where the text is NOT.
-Use select>Inverse (ctrl+shift+i) to select the text.
-Make a new layer, without canceling your selection.
-Pull up your gradient tool (hold click on the paint bucket tool to find it), and click on the little sample in the upper left.
-The second option in the swatches that appear should be "foreground to transparent" - select this.
-On the new layer, with the selection shaped like your text still up, drag the gradient to fill in the text, which will be a fade from your foreground color to transparent.
-Delete the old text layer.

....That works. You look like you have some snazzy effects on your text- you'd have to do those again AFTER what I've already described. If you need more help making a good gradient or anything (if you don't see the premade swatch, for example) I'd be happy to elaborate. Hope it was clear.

Like I said, I know there's an easier way, but I'm embarrassed to say I'm not sure what it is. I tried all kinds of layer blending options, but to no avail o.o

opacity? make the text layer more see through
Yup, that's basicly it :P

I added two different layers of text, one with my acc name and the other with my name.
Opened up the animation option and added in 21 frames in total. First 11 changing the opacity down by 20% a frame on Layer 1 and then back up by 20% a frame.
Then repeated with the next 10 frames on Layer 2 and and set the animator to run on 'Forever' mode so it just replays and replays.

So this is what I ended up with after fiddling with fonts and shadows. it may not be the ebst thing in the world.. but I'm proud of it ^_^
