Been playing the crap out of this game the last few days and I think the worst thing about it is the small map selection. (which will get fixed as soon as the Unreal community gets started with the game. ;)) Everything feels and plays differently from UT2004. The weapons finally seem to be perfectly balanced in DM and CTF, the campaign is marginally less boring than it used to be, and you can now bust out a hoverboard and hitch a ride on vehicles in Warfare (Onslaught 2.0) so you don't get stuck walking between two powernodes. They tried to make the gameplay as strategic as possible in Warfare mode, but it's not going to work that way unless you make sure everyone on your team has microphones.
Well, if you don't like the berserker style of gameplay, at least I can say it blows Halo 3 out of the water in terms of innovation. They took risks and morphed every gametype into something that looks, feels, and plays differently. Not to mention better, but that's pretty much up to the player.
The game deviates from the blitz-hitz mechanics of UT2004, keeps what we loved about it intact, and combines it with the looks of Quake IV and pace matched only by the older UTs, on the powerful Gears of War engine. If you liked UT or UT2k4, chances are you're going to love this one.
That said, we desperately need the game patched... technical issues are going through the roof over here. I can't even save my graphics preferences...
