Hello, I am Totobello and I have a question, let me start with a story.

Before I got Tiberian sun, I always builded my base, like a rusher.
You know, building that totally DIDN'T look like a real base.
But with Tiberian sun, you could 'Pave'-ment all over the place. Then you had these uber cool gates and walls, next stop: The buildings, make a real base you know? Not too many defences, etc etc.

THIS TOTALLY DESTROYED MY ONLINE GAMEPLAY WITH STRAT GAMES.

So my question is, are there anymore Pixel loving Base Builders?

edit: I also mean this for C&C 3, since I only mentioned Tib Sun

Lol ok, but I remember when I once played, this guy kept talking by a microphone, distracting me because I needed to typ. You know?
So I had a nice base finally and he had this HUGE army. I was like; WATTHEFAK.

I do it a lot, too. I'd do it a whole lot more if there were walls in C&C3, but too bad for me.

The only time I build my base like that is when I'm doing a skirmish or I've pounded my enemy into the ground and all I have to do is cleanup.

I build massive superbases in my RTS games. I can be an aggressive player or a builder, treating an RTS game like simcity can be fun sometimes. I have a folder on my portable hard drive called superbases where i have all my huge bases from c&c 95 all the way through to tiberian sun and starcraft. After that making a superbase in more modern games was simply less fun. Starcraft was fantastic for it because of the editior, you could build your huge base and trigger massive attacks against it at will, even have an AI randomly attack with a few units or a horde of units, good stuff.

Problem back in the c&c 95 days was finding a map that allowed me to make MCV's, and then capturing the enemys technology as well. It was a massive accomplishment to have survived the already murderous maps in c&c 95 but to have captured in tact the enemys con yard and war factory too. I was over the moon when in tiberian sun i could build MCV's in every skirmish map and actually save skirmish maps too, shame i was too young to understand the map editor properly, i used tibedit or something like that to modify certain units to make self powering obelisks or MCV laser tanks since i always thought the tib sun MCV looked like a big fat tank anyways.

Gotta fire up some of those old saves sometime....

I love you man.:happysad:

I know how you feel :o

Anyways, in Tiberian Sun you've had more space to build a cool base.
In these new games, you have less space plus you can't build walls and gates ETC.

I know it does suck. Oh well, at least I still have Tiberian Sun/Firestorm and Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge.

I don't :(

But I still got Total Annhilation. And if I break that one, I still got Taspring :D

I used to in the old games, but after yuris revenge came out, it just stopped, saouse i had to concentrate on winning, not painting a nice little base, those were the good old days.:(

I assume from context that "Pixel base" means building a large base with walls and such.

My advice: play Paraworld.

Yeah...I like making cool bases, and I really miss walls and gates, but not only are they not in C&C3, in multiplayer, you can't afford either the economic drain or the time spent to do such things. Expand to the Tiberium fields and pump out units, apparently.

When I watch a replay of an online game, I notice that there are very few base defenses (strikes me as odd) and bases seem a bit spartan.

And anyway...since RA2, I can't tell if units are just more powerful, or concrete is just weaker. As cool as they are, it's not worth building walls in RA2, because your enemy can blow through them at will, though, it might buy your Prism Towers another shot or two if you surround them with walls...

Its never been worth building walls in any c&c game. I remember once back with the original red alert me and a friend linked two playstations together and he build a wall around his base, took him ages, i build about 20 heavy tanks in the same time, made a hole in the wall and smacked his undefended base around. Funny stuff

They come into their own when you want to build a really big base in single player, have a stab at playing sim-base sorta thing. Good for walling in tiberium trees or ore mines + refinerys too, so you dont get harvesters all over the place, but your base gets a neat little cash supply and becomes self sufficient, no need to venture outside. I did that on the ant missions levels, both the one where you evac civillians (bumped into the 500 structure limit unfortunately) and the other one where you gas the nests, but i didnt gas them, i surrounded them with pillboxs instead, so the ants could still be a threat if i wanted.

It would have been worth making walls in C&C and RA if you didn't have to build them one tiny section at a time...
