Basically just summed my entire truck up, all options are in the above.

Sweet ride. Bed liners suck smart choice to change. The dog is awesome too, looks like he doesn't miss any meals! Probably the dog would like a ride inside the truck before its sent in for the cleaning.

302/5.0? Good engine.

Yep, its kinda lacking on the horsepower/top-speed aspect, but I could pull a tank with the torque. :p

Good looking truck Koes. Whatever happened to your... Crown Vic was it? Did you sell it before you went on deployment?

KrasnyOktyabr
12-11-2007, 09:37 AM
It's for sale.

A scrap yard wants to give me $250 for it. I might just remove all the parts I can sell on eBay and do it. We'll see.

I tagged the front up pretty good, just the bumper and grill. Everything is still straight so instead of filing a claim I'm waiting till after Christmas and some welders I know are going to build me one of those monster over-engineered Front Bumpers.
Yeah, your thinking of my maroon 1/2 ton that I fell asleep after leaving that pistol match. When I t-boned that culvert it snapped the front axel in two and did gods knows what to the frame.
I want to know how that 4.8L runs, fuel mileage...the works. From what you tell me that will go along way on what I buy next. I've had a 5.3L and a 6.0L now and that 5.3 got pretty good mileage but was crap on the highway and the 6.0 is the otherway around...I spend about 130$ a week on fuel "still want one Rolk?"

It's hard as hell to find a half-ton V8 truck with a stick anymore. Infact I don't even know if GM sells a truck with one on the 1500 or Silveraldo's. I'm also pretty sure Ford doesn't have one on V8 F-150's.

Edit: From a quick search, Ford does offer a stick on some of it's V8 F-150's, but you pretty much have to order it from the factory. GM seems to only offer an automatic transmission.

KÖNIGSTIGER

Why'd you sell it?

Impractical to drive from madison, wisconsin to champaign, illinois 2-4 times/month...it had the 5.7, trust me I miss it, and trust me I'll own another one again someday [soon]. Also had the 4l60E automatic trans [which is what you have, chuckie's truck has the 4L80E, or, if he's lucky, an Allison] in it which was getting ready to go after 114k miles... Right now I have a VW Jetta which is infinitely more practical for my commute. http://www.racevideoforums.com/forums/images/smilies/treehugger.gif

I want a Duramax. I'll have one someday...

Not bad, you'll come to really like that small block though...hell even the 4.3 is a good engine, as is the 5.3.

KrasnyOktyabr
12-13-2007, 07:45 PM
The 4.3 is a great engine, in an S10. However in the newer full size trucks it just can't get the things out of there own way.

Drove the truck out to the middle of the field and took a few...

I beg to differ, my dad had an 01 K1500 w/ the 4.3 and autotrans, that stupid thing would pull his tandem axle dump trailer w/ bobcat with minimal problems...surprisingly.

My Wife has a 4.3 in her S-10 Blazer, it drives ok I guess. Just a sidenote, the 4.3 is a 5.7 with two cylinders cut off, its really not a bad motor all though the V-6 it replaced "3.8" was a much better motor imo.

How much US $ are you guys looking at to purchase one of them.

I'd love to import one, however the conversion would cost a mint I think.

KrasnyOktyabr
12-14-2007, 08:53 AM
After taxes, tittle, spray on bedliner, and an extended warranty, my truck was just a hair over $20k. Not a bad price. Chances are though, with the price of import and conversion you'd be better off hunting the internet for one already in Aus.

Yes chuck, the 3800 was bullitproof, the 4.3 isn't bad, but there isn't a comparison.

We had a V24 Cummins in our Ram 2500, and it would idle up a hill with 3 tons attached to the hitch. (555 lb ft torque and 305HP) :p Cost somewhere around $40k for the full package. My mum ran it face-first into a (disconnected) telephone pole, taking out the pole in the process of totaling the engine.

Anyhow, what I drive now is a Ram 2500 5.7L HEMI with 375 lb ft torque and 345 HP. Thing ****ing roars. Anyhow, I'll get some pics in the morning or whenever I get the time.
