Ahhh, yes, a true classic. I think Wesforce or AIes parodied it sometime ago though with a Tib Sun Christmas fanfic... I'll see if I can find it.
EDIT: OK, found it! (Wes made it, for the record). The Christmas Truce (http://forums.cncden.com/showthread.php?t=12983)

BTW, this view on war doesn't work across languages and religions... this wont be working in the middle east.

I like to think of the Middle East as a... "special" place in terms of war where only the dirtiest and ruthless players will win, and all meanings of honor are a joke (though it definately wasn't like this just a couple of centuries ago though... guess you can blame the fall of the Ottoman Empire for this one).

I completely agree that this shouldnt be forgotten. It shows how two sides that are told, during a time of war, to hate someone else, but can put those ideas aside and become "friends". But then it also shows how others, the upper brass in this case, think that a bloody, diseased war is more important then a highly recognised holiday of friendship, of the home. And the lengths they would go through to make those soldiers kill each other again.
