It's not from Star Trek. Does it look anything like Star Trek? No, it does not.

Nor is it from Babylon 5, Stargate or any 'mainstream' sci-fi series. It's probably from some old, forgotten about series that was awful.

actually it was indeed from a series, not mentioned by anyone here yet. i actually really enjoyed the show at the time. im sure if i saw an episode today it would be silly, but when it first aired i loved it.

edit: i will give you a hint. that thing he is shooting is a device that has been modified to look like a regular key chain car alarm remote.

For the short of it:
future sci fi earth, over one hundered criminals escape from prison or something and go back in time and this guy is sent back to return them to the correct time (and prison) without altering history. He sends them back (to the future) by zaping them with a special energy weapon that is modified to look like a everyday car alarm keychain.

i liked the show a lot when it was on, but completely forgot it ever existed until recently.
