HI Everyone

I am just learning how to use World Builder and trying to learn the ins and outs of the game.

Plus learning how to navigate in this forum.

Below is a pic of my map I'm working on "Military Base: Mountain Eagle"
I noticed World Builder does not register the water lines correctly in the overhead view.
I have all the mechanics and layout done, I figured out the Train, nice feature!

Now I'm working on the AI layout.

Any advice is welcome to help make a better playing map for everyone.

For the C&C Community

I'm confused on what you want. Would you like me to review it based on that screen shot? It would be better if you just upload the map. Go to you Documents folder & open the Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data folder followed by Maps. Create a ZIP folder there & click & drag the folder there with your map name on it over the ZIP folder. (A copy of you map will be compressed in that folder.) Now just upload that & I'll be happy to examine it! ;)

Attach the map to your next post so we can test it.

HI

I tried to upload my map for testing purposes

"Proto Map Test V_01.zip" Size 370 KB

and this program says I have exceeded my quota.:\

and refused to upload it.

I have one pic at 230 kb and I had to shrink it.

Even if I delete the pic my zip is still to large?

Am I being limited because of my NEW Member status?

I think I remember seeing much larger postings in this forum.

Any suggestions?

Well, try going to your control panel. Then click on "Attachments" on the lower left side of the page. Delete any attachments you have there. (Previous attachment have probably been already been viewed.) Also, is your map really 370 KB? A good quality map is about 250 KB. Do you have any other files in your map folder taking up space? All we really need is the MAP file.

Sorry for taking a lllllllll...ooooo...nnnnn...gggg... time to reply. I sometimes miss posts. :(

Thank you for responding. I have only one image in my folder and it is only 230kb

My map is 500 x 500 and 375 kb as it is presently.

I have a train running through my map going over 3 bridges and through one tunnel,
Two station stops, Four AI, Three water areas and lots of room to fight.
Right now I'm playing each position ironing out the bugs from my perspective.

I built in lots of places to ambush and or protect each base.

The decore is in a raw state as it is not needed to play the map.

After I get the playing bugs out I'll attempt to write some scripts to
further inhance the AI's performance.

What are the requirements for graphics to be displayed in this forum.
and in my personal folder?

I look around and I read the forum rules and found none stated.

Thanks

Just go to your map folder & create a new ZIP folder there. Put the file with the extension, .map, in the folder & upload it in a reply. It should work

HI

Am I being limited because of my NEW Member status?

Any suggestions?

I presume the map folder your are refering to is in my documents folder
on my computer. If so, I have tried this earlier and again as you suggested with the same results.

I deleted everything in the map folder except *.map and re-zipped.
Cannot get it any smaller than 360kb

As stated earlier I feel that I'm being restricted because I'm a new member.
360kb is a rather small file.

I guess I'll just have to wait until this issue is resolved.

Thanks very much for all your help!

I doubt you're being restricted for being a new member. I believe I've had the same attachment space as always.

The location for finding your maps are in, "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps". When I say "your map folder" I'm referring to the folder you see in the location, "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps" with the name of your map. That folder contain the files of your map.

Since you say your map is to big. Just send it to my email inbox. (I'd rather not post it for the public to see so that I can avoid spam searchers. I'll just send a private message to you.)

Okay I got the map. I also posted it at Cncmaps's forums since their size limit is 10 times bigger. (2 MB) http://cncmaps.net/index.php?showtopic=2483 Members at this forum site might also reveiw the map so check there too.

The map looks fun. The only notes I have on the game play is some of the flanks are a little to skinny & the map is a bit big. Try making your maps less then or equal to 400x400.

About the scenery: Try not making such steep hills. Gentle slopes makes it more realistic. Although doing this might allow units to go up the mountain so click on the tool that paint texture. In the Terrain Material Options window, check, "Paint passable/impassable terrain".
Also, try using 2 to 3 mountain textures to give a more realistic mountain side. For the planes, use about 4 to 5 textures. Putting in miscelaneos man made stuff around the buildings will give a better affect to them too.
