Hello foks,

I've battled 3 matches vs SCRIN yesterday on the Small Town USA map.

Seems the SCRIN player is beating me every time, on economy mostly (tiberium accelerators)

Game starts out fine.
- taking the left and right tiberium fields with gun infantry
- getting smashed on one side by buzzers
- Building up a tech center
- building up 4 refinery's and base defences.

After this (+- 10-15 min) the scrin players allready has a dozen Stormriders.
These can be countered offcourse, but this is pritty hard to do with nod.

The AA defence is worthless, doesn't kill any stormrider at all.
I tried the following:

Devastator Warship counter:
Stealth Tank

Not usefull: Militant Rocket Soldier, raider buggy or Fast Attack Bike, SAM Turret (usuallyout of range)

Stormrider counter:
Militant Rocket Soldier (with Tiberium Infusion and Confessor upgrade)
Raider Buggy (with Laser Capacitors upgrade)

not usefull: Raider buggy or Fast Attack Bike
Somewhat usefull: SAM Turret

I can somewhat counter the air units with a ton of SAM turrets and Militant Rocket Soldiers and stealth tanks, but it's pritty expensive.

Disruption Tower do help but are easelly distroyed and cost alot of power.

The combination of Storm Columns (1shot stealth tanks and Vertigo ), Devastator Warships(long range artillery killing SAMS) and Stormriders (effective against all nod units and again easely kill Stealth tanks also) is so deadly no force of nod can withstand that.

Tried harassing his economy with the tiberium infused missle killing off his refinery's killing his harvasters but i can't breach the storm collum defence without heavy losses with anything else then Avatars, wich get owned by a dozen stormriders and a few Devastator warships wich i can't counter with anything.

In short, as soon as Scrin gets to the point of making Warships & Assault carriers i find it hard to counter these attacks playing NOD. The only effective AA unit is the stealth tank, the rest gets killed too easely.

This morning I had a thought of packing a bunch of Avatars with flamethrowers and stealth but that's awfully expensive ;)

I spent a good amount of time last night playing Scrin myself, and I found a pretty good counter to this problem.

Try laser Venoms. As long as you kill the PACs first without wasting time on their little fighters, have a whole bunch of Venoms, and upgrade to lasers, they can take the Scrin ships down real quick, particularly the Devastators, because they can't hit back. Just remember - PACs first, then Stormriders, then Devastators.

It's good to have 2-3 Air Towers up to build a bunch of Venoms at a time. Try to get them in behind - not because the ships are more vulnerable from behind (I'm not sure if they are, I know the tanks are), but because the Stormriders are usually up front and the PACs and Devastators in the back.

Also remember to take down their fleet BEFORE they use the Ion Storms, and bomb their Gravity Stabilizers with Vertigos as often as you can. Since you have 2-3 Air Towers anyhow, you should have a good 10-12 Vertigos so there's more chance of getting enough bombs in to do the damage - in fact, you can split your bombers into 2 or 3 groups and hit multiple Stabilizers at once. If you can, sneak in a Vapor Bomb as well (the AA will usually hit the Vertigos first and ignore the other bomber, if you time it properly so that the bomber is in the midst of the other bombers). This is also a good time to drop in the Catalyst missile on his refineries, so he has less money to rebuild the stabilizers with, and has this gaping hole in his base, and you have LOS on most of his base and can drop it so it hits multiple Refineries at once (I managed to drop 3 refineries in a single hit, it was spectacular, especially with all the other bombs falling and the huge vapor cloud of doom). And of course, be sure to follow up with a hard ground assault! :D

(wow, I originally clicked Reply with the intention to just say "try laser Venoms", then I started to explain and went into more detail and it sort of came out as this huge battle plan without me meaning it to )

You're right about laser Venoms, they devestate Scrin, but you don't need three airfields producing them. Two rarely, but one is usually enough.

I suggest go heavy on the defences. Majorly heavy. Whilst at the same time working on the economy and upgrading all ur stuff. Build a commando... it will more than likely die. (Build a new commando every time the other dies whilst doing this btw)

Basically on the one hand... you... major AA, AI and AV defences (turrets) with a decent inflowing economy and a commando. The commando can scout around, take out unsuspecting infantry as well as take down a few buildings (their refineries)

The man point of the commando in my eyes is to expose weak points in their base ;)

Do Et ;)
