Im posting this as a gamer and partly becuase the forums says i have to post and i suggested this idea to mooman a long time ago and he liked it, but never implimented it here, it is a mod i use on my forums.
Alot of members on here are Xbox Live gamers so this should be popular, and both CnC3 and Kanes Wrath are available on the Xbox, and every xbox live gamer has a gamercard.
I Have a very simple modification, any admin could add it, which would allow members to display their gamercard in their signiture or post it, in the form of a BB code. you wouldn't have to enable images and it is a set box of a standard size which the member cant change or abuse.
If any admin wants to add this to DGNF, post here or PM me and i will show you exactly how, it takes 2 minutes literally.
Thanks for your time.
As much as I would support it.
The code is a PNG points to a PNG image, and if we enable one image, we would have to enable images for signatures all round.

Not exactly true. You can disable [IMG] tags and [sigpic] tags and leave this in, still able to use a specific image with a different BB code. As it stands right now, it could be done with no adverse effects.

You mis-understand me.
IMG tag is disabled.
No images in signatures, and if we allow this, which is technically an image, why woulnd't we enable normal signatures.

It isnt strictly an image although technically your correct.
The user uses a different BB tag, which on my forums is ZombieAndy, putting their own gamername where mine is.. this displays their gamercard directly from xbox live. like i said, its a set size and there really is no way members could abuse it. There is also no need to enable signiture images to allow it.
That is the difference between this and normal images, you wouldn't have to regulate sizes or content becuase its already done.

You can also add it to the postbit (where the persons avatar etc is) which would be just as easy.

I don't think the issue of signature images being abused is applicable anymore. I believe they still don't allow picture signatures simply because of tradition.
Again, it's personal preference.

Signature images affect load times and server bandwidth, and they would be abused over time.

They can be quite annoying at times too. There was this one forum I went on a while back and a few people who posted frequently had 1280x720 pics in their signatures, so you had to scroll through all this crap in order read the thread.

That's what I mean by abuse, and it would happen.

Thats what i mean about this code, its a seperate BB code that would allow the user to display a image of a set size and set content, without enabling your standard IMG code.
It is, quite literally, abuse-proof.
Failing the ability to have such a code for posts/signitures... how about letting us display our gamertags in our profiles? another very quick addition which would also be popular, but instead of a tag it is option in the usercp, which displays it once and once only on a users profile. again, 100% abuse proof.

Signature images affect load times and server bandwidth, and they would be abused over time.
Load times maybe initially, but once the images are cached they would load instantly. Also, small signature images aren't that big of a deal with load times because of how widespread broadband internet is nowadays. Times have changed.
Also, these pictures would be hosted off server, so no they wouldn't be affecting your account bandwidth usage.
Finally: worried about images being abused? That's why we have moderators.
I don't want signature images allowed here... just fyi.

BBB's opinion, let everybody choose whatever they want as long as there is a max on pixels so the signature doesn't become to high and eat space.
If your internet/bandwith can still not handle a few pics, stay away from Internet!!!

Plus even when small they tend to detract from just reading through the thread post by post.
