Before I begin: if this is against the rules, I am very sorry. I recall that there was a topic in this vein several years ago (I think it was for a free PSP?), and I wanted to test this out personally, except with a Playstation 3. If this is against the rules, of course I'll gladly accept any reprimands for my ignorance, should it come to that.

Anyhoot, let's give this a shot!

The other day, I got prompted with a pop-up. "Congratulations! You've just won a free PS3!" (The grammar was for more reprehensible). Obviously, I closed out of the pop-up, and went on... what, what was I doing? I Forget. Anyways, after that, I thought about it. Technically, legally, a company that offers a "free" prize for joining up with their site is required to reward you with the free gift. Next pop-up I found, I took the bait.

Currently, I've joined up with a site called GiftMonkey.com. They require that, for members to receive their gift, that I refer twelve people to complete an offer. I've checked around with their offers, and all of them are legitmate, and some of them are actually useful. The surveys are shady at best.

So, I am looking for volunteers to assist me in this experiment. I've tried proxy email addresses, and those do not work (got disqualified froma few sites), so I require the assistance of other people to get this to work.
If you help me out on this, and decide to drop some money on one of the offers, I would be more than happy to either pay you back, or, if you want to try for a free PS3, I'd be happy to be one of your references. I don't want to come off as "help Booger get a free console," if anything I want this to be a group experiment.

If you want to participate in this experiment, my referral link is: http://www.GiftMonkey.com/?s=11355. Just join and complete one of the offers. If you're going to do it, get an offer that's actually useful. For example, I joined up with Gamefly, which is perfectly appropriate, considering the nature of this project.
Thanks a ton for hearing me out! Again, if this is against the rules, I'm really sorry.

Also: I've checked around. GiftMonkey is pretty reputable, and very secure. Felt that was important to mention.

There are websites that will let you set up temorary emails, very useful for things like this. I know DoH once got a free Ipod of PSP from one of these sites. They work, but its difficult to complete (and incompletion means they get all the business, for none of the prize).

Yep. I got a free iPod mini as well as a PSP about three years ago (wow that was a long time ago eh?). The sites are often legitimate; however, I cannot vouch for any of the newer ones as I've been completely out of that scene for a long time.

It took me several months in order to recruit enough people for it. My only suggestion is to do as much background checking as you can on the companies to make sure they won't screw you. Best of luck :)

you know with the time you put into this it'll probably just be cheaper to get a job, earn the money in the same period of time, and buy a PS3 :p

There's also one that's been showing on G4TV that talks about giving you a free XBox 360 if you fill out the "easy" seven-step-process. Well lemme tell you, it's a load of bull. They essentially want you to shift through tons and tons of marketing spam, ads, and trial offers over and over until you complete 12 subscription deals to other sites, which will probably cost you over $50, and that's if it's even considered a compatible business site. And god forbid if you end getting mislead by the countless false links that try to pretend to be part of the main offer. So much for a 'free' Xbox...:hmm:

I attempted one of these... wanted to get a new TV. Went with a free trial of NetFlix, and cancelled that after dealing with the ****ty mail system on Campus.

Eh. I wish you best of luck.
