so heres the thing, i want to add sound effects from tiberian dawn to red alert, so i downloaded xcc mix editor, and i can open the mix files, but apparently i can't do anything other then see what they are. i was hoping it would be as easy as saving the sound files from TD mix file to a RA mix file. anyone have any experience with this?

You need XCC Mixer to extract the actual files. XCC Mix Editor is to create new mix files from your files.

cool, thanks

one more thing, how do i get the AUD files like the bazooka sound from the TD MIX over to the RA MIX? and if i do get it into the right directory, can i make the rocket soldier in RA use that sound on his bazooka by changing the "REPORT"?

ok, i figured out how to get the AUD files from TD into the RA sound file. The only problem is when i assign the new sounds to units using the rules, for some reason nothing happens. can someone help?

It's because Red Alert 1 is hard-coded to only use sounds with certain names. You need to rename the sound to the sound specified in the "Report=" line in the "[Dragon]" section (the Rocket Soldier's weapon). Red Alert 1 is a lot easier to mod than any of the newer games, but its moddability is more limited due to the hard coding. Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn is impossible to mod.
