Anyways I'm peacing out to work at a treatment facility that works with kids with various emotional difficulties/disturbances (Autism, Bipolar and the likes) for 50 days, and won't be back until September.
Since the campus is located up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, I won't really be able to check email. Especially since this is a 24/7 camp. So, sorry guys. I probably won't even think that much about you all. :p
Just thought I would let you all know why I would vanish for nearly 3 months. I'm not dying... I'm probably just getting stabbed in the leg by a girl who thinks I've pissed in her macaroni and cheese. Hey, it happened last year!
And you can call me an attention whore or something if you'd like... I don't really care. :p

Seriously though, that's pretty awesome that you'd take a couple of months out of your life for the benefit of people you don't even know right now. I give you full props for doing the right thing and I'll be praying for you and the kids you're with. I'm sure it won't always be easy and might get frustrating at times, but I bet when it's over you won't wish you had been doing anything else.

To be honest I'd be happy to leave this place, but the Army isn't Burger King, I can't have things my way. Texas is too hot, too humid, Centeral Texas is too full of idiots. People here are either really nice or just real bastards, no in between. The one thing I like about this state are the thunderstorms.

In about two days I'll be heading out to this wonderful facility for round three. This year I'm in charge of administering prescribed drugs to children, which I actually am quite uneasy about. So yes... I only have two days left here. I may post here and there over the summer, but the next time in which I'll be constantly around a computer will be when I am in Philadelphia. That's slightly terrifying for me.

Well, some of these kids are worked up on 30+ meds a day. At least a portion of which are heavy behavioral modifiers. It would definitely be interesting to give them placebos. I'd imagine I'd one up the amount of stitches I had last year if that were to happen. :p

That's what is heartbreaking (and my main moral issue with giving meds); some of the kids are entirely too overmedicated. Apparently most psychiatrists and physicians think it easier to treat the disorder, not treat the child.
