Hello everyone. I just started playing TW, and now am playing KW.

The sotry is interesting but starting so late into the series is kinda throwing me off. Anyways enough about that let's get down to business.

Can you help me with any good BO for ST?

I just have taken a liking to them, and I enjoy their "Old School" style of units.
The non-advanced infantry are a let down, but w/e.

I normally only play 10,000 resource games so a BO in that area would be nice.

Thanks in advance. :)

Power
Barracks (trains several rifle quads for scout, anti-scout, and anti-spike grab, then engies to get your own spikes)
Ref
Command Post
Airfield (drop Bloodhounds as close to your enemy base as you can, this is what the scouts were for), then sell (unless vs. other GDI, in which case start spamming Orcas and hitting harvs)
WF (spam Titans and wolverines if you need anti-infantry)

Harass with the blood hounds, you probably won't kill much but you'll keep him busy and slow down his harvesting a little, as well as see his BO.

Wow... I have NEVER seen something work so well.

I have only tried this three times ind you, but every single time it gave me the upper hand.

The longest match anyone lasted against me with this tactic, they had a bunch of WT's and a Command Post, mean while my MARV came out of the factory, then they quit.

Do you have any tips for R-17 or BH? They are my two factions when I play the other sides. :chin:

Yeah, its the only effective rush GDI BO. After that the general strategy is fast tech to MARV, send it to a fresh field and start MARVesting while pumping out units as fast as you can.

For R17 spam Mechas with disintegrators segments. For BH spam Purifiers with Purified Flames. Both those units are horrendously overpowered, though they should be fixed in the patch (Monday?)

For either faction go for a standard BO:
Power
Barracks (scout, spike grab)
Ref
WF (get Bikes to harass or Scorps to defend as BH, Seekers to harass and defend as R17, then another harv, then start spamming Scorps/Seekers)
Ref

Flexible from there. Since these factions have strong Tier 3 units you'll want to tech faster, but keep in mind you need a Secret Shrine for Purified Flames. Also make sure you get a 3rd Ref before too long, and you'll want 5-6 harvesters total.

Well you see my comp. is way to crappy to play PC games anymore (Windows ME running XP) last game I ever played on it was Age of Mythology.

So I don't play CPU I play X360. And seeing as how great EA supported the 360 with patches (they didn't) I highly doubt they will patch ANYTHING with KW on 360.

Mind telling me how Mechs/w Disintegrators segs. is really that effective? I mean the best combo I ever came up with for R-17 is EH+3 Shock Troopers with 4 Mechs/w Toxin to make it the ultimate shield. (Tooks down a Brutal Steamroller AI with this in less than 25 mins.)

It's not that I doubt you about them being effecitve, I'd just like to know why this sets them apart is all.

360 eh? Well, you'll definitely never get patched. Its hard enough to get that **** through EA's red tape, add Microsoft's own tape factory on top of that and its never gonna happen. Two biggest game companies right there.

Playing on the 360 is going to make it virtually impossible to micro. You can try to pull these things off, but they work a lot better on PC (actually, Purifier spam takes 0 micro, you can do that easily).

On the blood hounds you want to try to keep them alive so they can keep harassing, so try to keep them away from enemy units while keeping them around enemy harvesters (Wolverines can rape infantry squads though, so let them take missile squads head on).

For the Mechapedes, its effective because the disin segments are effective against everything, the Mechapede is fast, can be produced cheaply (add segments while its moving to the enemy base), and repaired on the fly. Make sure you have a strong economy, shouldn't be hard to do then start pumping out Mechas. Send them in down flanks where you're enemy doesn't have units, they're not very good head-on but they're basically unstoppable as harassment. Set them to aggressive stance (if thats possible on the 360) so they will automatically target structures and just keep them moving through his base. If you need to deal with units, get in range then turn back out. The tail segments will stay in range and attacking while the head is safe away, just keep replacing segments. You mostly want to go around large armies though. Your first waves will probably only have one or two Mechas, but eventually you should be able to send multiple groups of 2-4 Mechas from different sides, at which point your enemy if ****ed. There is nothing they can do to stop it as long as you keep them all moving (to prevent him from targetting the head). During the midgame (before Mechas) you might consider getting Storm Riders to harass some, and then use them to support the Mechas later, thats mainly a T59 thing. This strat works and is very overpowered for all Scrins, but T59 does it best.

Lol yeah I understand, and the 360 version with it's "Build Wheel" made the game so much easier now. It's not ALL that bad. I'm sure PC>360 though.

Hmm I think I know what my biggest fault is though in this game. When ever I hit some one badly enough I just back off and play with them. Which has lead me to some losses when I could have won the game right off the bat.

I like toying with my food... and it bites back . I need to be more aggressive and attack them relentlessly... speaking of which you can set units to aggressive and the other stances, and I always let them go on a rampage in someones base.

*Sigh* Oh well. I think I will stick as ST though, I enjoy there playing style. I can't seem to make an effective end game though if I let my opponent live on.

I make Mammys, and Slings + Rocket men and they get knocked away (MARV included) and I get beaten. Perhaps it's because I don't expand, somethign I haven't done since TW. Any good late game advice? I can't help myself but sometimes let the game roll on that long.

I don't know about PC players, but for 360 Cranes no longer build Turrets (which I'm assumeing is the same for PC) and 3.5K for the ability to build more seems pricey :hmm:. Then again it's worth it.

Thoughts?

Don't build a lot defences. They were removed from the crane because dropping instant-popup tier 3 defences was stupidly powerful. Now you can only build one at at time, unless you get another MCV (its not worth it usually). They are still good for instant defences (especially the Obelisk) but don't spend money trying to ring your base in them. Just keep one in your que and place it in front of the enemy when they attack, of course you'll need regular units to help too.

Steel Talons late game is pretty good. With MARVesting you should be able to keep at least three factories/barracks going, don't forget to get the upgrades too. When you're not GDI you definately need to expand late game. You can do this by stretching structures (you need to star this early so you will have reached far enough by the time you want to expand), sending an surveyor, or moving your MCV. Its your call, I prefer the last choice.
