Alright, So over at Redalert3.com they've released the first part of information on the Empire of the Rising Sun!

They're spotlighting King Oni (http://www.ea.com/redalert/factions-empire.jsp?id=King_Oni) this time 'round.

I'd imagine he's they're most powerfull unit looking at the Survillance Footage, If not THE, atleast one of the strongest. GoGo Laser Eyes!

OMFG I'M SO EXCITED! :hyper::wave: Commander Dave

Couldn't resist.

Lol....
Wholy Crap thats Power and lethality in that video!!!
Destroying light Vehicles so quickly it would be a pain to have a platoon of vehicles at your enemies base and they just have enough time to build one of these... that rampage has enough power to destroy even a small building like a powerplant!!!
I guess the Bull run would be effective against people who don't move their vehicles or infantry to manuever against this thing....

Indeed, Reading through the details though I figure it'll be capped to 1 unit at a time. (I hope atleast! take a mass amount of tanks to get rid of an army of those charging at your base!)

Three would be the cap I'd prefer or a very expensive price...
I hope that we have aircraft that can counter them, the Allied Bomber is good against buildings but this thing doesn't have that much width as it does length, at least soviets have Helicopters with rockets...

I doubt it will be capped. That would be unusual for any CNC game.we'll have to wait and see how powerful it really is, all these unit spotlight videos have made everything look very powerful.

unusual for a cnc game? cnc games always had capped units. look at commandos and epic units. including the mk2.

I think hes refering to an overall unit count cap, such as in Warcraft 3.

No, we were referring to having a buildlimit for a unit that isn't really a heroic or epic type unit. They never did that in any previous CNC game, nor did they ever do an overall unitcap.

*EDIT* I checked iot out. This here:

• Cost-prohibitive -- There is almost no way that the Empire of the Rising Sun could be manufacturing the King Oni in significant supply. The research-and-development costs alone must have been staggering, and if the Empire of the Rising Sun would likely be using even more of these things if it could.

That most likely means that there will be a unit cap or it will be extremely expensive in compensation. However this quote here:

Military strategists surmise that it is almost impossible for the Empire of the Rising Sun to have constructed more than a handful of these remarkable machines. However, their credibility these days seems to be somewhat dubious.

If you read the end, this statement contradicts the previous one.

From that Apple I can see an Expensive Cap

I was actually referring to Derek, I was quite aware there have never been caps in c&c :P.

Maybe Oni-chan will be some sort of Epic Unit?

We have seen multiple King Oni mechs on the battlefield simultaneously: in the gameplay demonstration, two standard King Oni mechs made an appearance along with a red, missile-armed variant.

Maybe Oni-chan will be some sort of Epic Unit? Doubtful: the development team has stated quite specifically that RA3 will not have Epic Units. Also, as mentioned above, we have seen multiple King Oni mechs on the battlefield at the same time.

actually it was 3 king onis and a red one :D

Yeah, they will probably be like a chineese overlord-class unit, or along those lines. Kind of like a thing you mix in with your main force for that extra lethal punch.

Do not forget that the Allies have the Cryo 'Copter.
That would probably be the main counter to the king oni. However if he is smart enough he'll send some of his AA units along with it.

Its too early to be speculating too much on counters. As it stands now the Cryo Copter is a potential counter for anything that can't attack air, and we have no idea precisely how powerful the King Oni mech is. Clearly however it will be a late game unit, equivalent to the Apocalypse Tank.

The Cyro Copter, a potential counter for anything that can attack air?
You're not serious?

Anyways, you have a point about that we don't really know how powerful the king oni really is, but from what we've seen and read, I think they intended it to be a "war in a can" kind of unit, as quoted from RA2 in regards to the apocalypse (which, ironically, wasn't really "war in a can" in RA2)

Typo. You should be able to figure it out. Fixed now anyways.

I'd take an Apocalypse tank anyday of the week against it.

Hey, maybe it can use the harpoon to trip the King Oni, and then run it over.

I always though the mammoth tank should be able to plow through walker, make them fall down, and then back over them.
