Let talk about the water in RA3. Looking at it and you see its, cool, and welcoming, and gives you a soothing feeling. No wonder some units are amphibious, some of them wanna take a dip into that big blue wet thing. The water effect is so much different from that to Generals, as you just see it like a pool of blue mud. And its much cleaner than that to C&C 3, as its murky and polluted with tiberium. No wonder those games have no moving naval units. Cuz they feel like their just geting sticky and dirty, and getting any clean.

What do you think?

I definitely like the water effects in RA3 much, much better than all others, however I'd like to point out that water in generals looked like that more so due to limitations than anything else.

Yeah but it isn't very transparent and you can't see the bottom.

Yeah but it isn't very transparent and you can't see the bottom.

You can see the bottom of a shallow body of water or a river, but for deep oceans, they had that non-transparent water probably more due to engine limitations. (In Generals, Water was just a layer of graphics, and there was nothing in-between the ground and the water (If you did it right on a custom map, you can see that water does not behave like basic physics would suggest in generals))

In RA3, They have a more potent water system, which can calculate waves in the water caused by outside effects, they have mechanics for physics effects, and so on. (RA3 even has fish swimming in the water- how cute!)

Again, Generals didn't have transparent water surfaces because there wasn't anything to show beneath the water but the ground below, and with thier systems it would look very weird.

Actually guys, Generals did have the occasional map with transparent water on it. Didn't occur very often but a couple maps had edited map.ini with different water values.

also, most maps had "shallow water" areas by shores and such. But still nothing compared to RA3's water effects, looking good!

I think people will have problems with the water since in the demo video of gamespot you can see the screen appearing sometimes black due (apparently) the water effects, so they better work in fix that or all their effort in to make all the seas of the world like the one of the caribbean will be useless :color2:

love the water effects, spalshes, boats sink to the bottom and stay, ripples, and shimmery water, reflections, pontoons from the buildings, so cool..
