i imagine he means the MP factions; UK, US, France etc.

i haven't heard anything but i don't think they will be as there is no mention of them in the beta

Expansion, I'd assume. EA seems to like that formula.
Common sense would state that they'd do something different, so probably sub-factions and a new faction with its own sub-factions in the expansion.

Who else smells Yuri coming back? :looklive:

I seriously doubt he's back as a playable side, although I bet they find some way to include him in at least one of the storylines in a way that completely recycles one of his previous plot appearances.

Shouldn't yuri be totally wiped out of the RA timeline? I find it pretty hard to believe that he survived for more then 65.000.000 years, or that he found the means to get that time machine running in the Jurassic age...

Personally, I rather think that they'll do a sub-country division, with each country having it's own specialty (or general). But that's something only time will tell...

And lo and behold, this post brings me to a total of 100! :D

they may do subfactions, but it won't be in the origional RA3.

Only time will tell, at this point...

I read that they plan to bring Yuri back in an expansion but as for his role it was unexplained. Some say that a fourth faction really confuses a storyline but they did a pretty good job with Supreme Commander and its expansion.

From what I remember hearing, there's more time travel involved in RA3, so he could have been saved by that. And, as logic would note, RA3 is going with the usual "good guys win" canon ending, meaning Yuri would still be alive and kicking in his tiny psychic cell even if there were no time travel monkey business.

With time travel having possibly freed him (Or, rather, prevented his capture), he'd be free to backstab Mother Russia again, assuming he wasn't imprisoned for the potential of such an incident due to the Soviets having "foresight", so to speak.
Although, the latter case is more likely, but we've seen that Red Alert's current communists have a way of bungling things - just look at the first mission of their YR campaign.

I hope that you could add sub-factions if you will create a mod for RA3.

I hope that you could add sub-factions if you will create a mod for RA3. Of course! You
can already create/add/edit subfactions in RA2 (I forgot if the original or YR) with NPatch (Am I right about that? :) Correct me if I'm wrong)

yah, you can add new factions for RA2, but that has nothing to do with RA3 in that sense. The coding is completely different.

Of course RA3 encoding differs than RA2's. EA would surely place subfactions to RA3. So not to disappoint it's fans

Well sure, it's been the formula for the last 2 games they released for CNC. I'm sure they will have something similar in RA3. Besides, subfactions are basically factions all thier own, but they share some of the same buildings and units/technologies.

And i do hope that they will not disappoint us. They should allow modders to expan the game as much as they want and give them chances to modify the subfactions.

The question is.

Why style of sub factions do you want, Red Alert style, with different bonus for different countries, or Red Alert 2 style, with a special unit for each country.

I think a combonation of the two would be nice, but that's just my idea.

I guess my question was more along the lines, will the subfaction countries play a bigger role in the story.

I think they should do RA2 style subfactions. With only a few bonus things per subfaction.

Along with a Yuri faction. I miss the mind control stuff.

Also they should bring back animals that are naturally part of the environment. And the secret tech you get for capturing a tech center.

I think that if EA is going to stay on their current trends, then the sub factions will probably come in an expansion, take a look at generals and CNC3, the subfactions came in the expansions zero hour and kanes wrath, but still it would be great if subfactions (countries if you want) would be included in the game.

I truly loved the sub-factions/countries of RA2. I was very disappointed when I heard they wouldn't be back. Hopefully we may see some specialized national units in the campaign. If not I believe there was an interview with a dev team member and he stated we would probably see that in an expansion. Damned if I know where I read it so I know the forum rule of "link or its not true" can't be followed. I think he said it probably wont be countries though, should be more along the lines of something like in Kane's Wraith. Like I said though I couldn't for the life of me remember where I read this so it could be wrong.

It would not suprise me if they put it in an xpac though....any way to get us to shell out another $30

I want to have the Soviets some mind-control stuff, not another Yuri. He's so easy to defeat -- for me. But if he comes back I hope that he would harder to defeat.
