I ppeviously thought that hellfire drones were a waste of money but against GLA games I have found them to be quite useful against tunnels and technicals.

Do you use drones routinely and how do you use/rate spy, repair and hellfire drones?

You can't rate the drones because they are not really of the same category. All 3 have totally different roles, and they are equally useful when the situation calls for them.

For instance, if you need a fast scout and stealth sensor, put a scout drone on a hummvee (load it with infantry for defence :p). If you want the unit to auto-heal and have some anti-infantry support, get the battle drone. If you want to enhance the unit's offensive capabilities and add some AP damage, get a hellfire drone.

I personally use the Battle drone the most, but I do use both of the others from time to time.

The Battle Drone is mostly useless in ZH v1.04 because ambos can heal vehicles on the move. If you're playing 1.05 or 1.06 then it is useful for healing vehicles. The Hellfire drone can be useful at times and the scout drone is very useful.

I play 1.06 nowadays.

I also usually forget that ambos can heal vehicles because it was just so ridiculous a feature in the first place... paramedics healing tanks? What, are they taught in field engineering these days?

I mostly use the batlle drone, since I mostly play without ambulances. Since I mostly play against the computer, which will try to take out the drones first with their missile defenders. In fact, I use them a bit as a "meat" shield. Its cheaper then a ranger, it's as fast as your vehicle, plus it has some nice sidequalities which you don't have with infantry. And as soon a unit gets to the second chevronne & it loses it's drone, I give it either the spy or the hellfire as a new drone.

But then again, the americas are my least favourite faction to play with...huge chinese fan barring their tank general - so I'm maybe not the best one to give you advice on playing the america's.

You think that's bad? How about old, beat-up pickup trucks carrying five men on them, despite the fact that there's really no space for them on it, or worse yet, withstanding MULTIPLE HITS from a tank?

Or here's another one - just where exactly does the GLA worker carry all that construction equipment?

First off, to your first bit, that is all purely graphical. Infantry are huge in comparison to tanks and other things, and the technical wasn't necessarily designed to look roomy.

And yes, it can withstand a couple hits, but that is for the sake of balance. If the truck got destroyed in 1 hit of any AT weapon (which would be more realistic), it would be useless.

Or here's another one - just where exactly does the GLA worker carry all that construction equipment?

Where does the dozer keep his construction equipment? Again, this is purely graphical, and does not affect gameplay at all.

It was added in v1.01 or v1.02, not sure which, to buff USA. The result was that USA's play style against China completely changed from Generals to ZH.

Yeah, they could face china with brute force now that their tanks auto healed (and they heal really fast too; I just played with them earlier today). Not to mention that the ambo was by far the easiest and fastest way of auto healing. GLA had to purchase a 2000 dollar upgrade, china had to get an overlord speaker tower, but USA had to spend a mere 600 credits on an ambo for the fastest, cheapest auto heal in the game.

Although a helix with a speaker is still also nice, 'coz it is still carrying a very effective anti-inf gun. but it will still cost you at least ...euh 1800 credits I think...If you let that work in combination with a bunkerlix, you know someones day will be ruined. If you have underneath that bunch a tiny groundforce with at least one siege-unit, you have something awesome if microed well.

Except for helixes having a lot more enemies than ambos do. Helixes are somewhat more useful vs the GLA since quads are much less damaging than gatts (given time they'll be more numerous though).

There still is one thing in the game that makes the ambulance suck though: it has no guns. That, and it's anti-chemical spray is really glitchy, and will only work if either the comp is using it or if it feels like it.
