Other thread doesn't exist anymore, so I'll post in this one. In this month's GameInformer it was confirmed that the game has been cancelled, permanently.
Shame, the game seemed to have promise.

Did it say exactly why the game was permanently cancelled?

From the magazine(Page 28) there is an excerpt of an interview with the site gamasutra. EA CEO John Riccitiello said:
"Any company that serves every dish that comes out of the oven, whether it's burned or not, is not committed to quality...EA will kill a game or two a year. Forever."
No specifics, just it's cancelled.

I thought it kinda funny where he talked about dishes coming out of an oven. To go with that, I have something to add. It's to bad most of the CNC games that do make it out of the oven anymore are burnt, at least slightly.

The word from rumor mill back then was that Tiberium got cancelled due to the team being pretty lazy and inexperienced, and the gameplay mechanics being seriously flawed.
Granted, this info came from a few anonymous folks who claimed to have worked on the project before it collapsed, so you have to take it with a grain of salt...
