You should post a screenshot or so. And some details.. Size of the map, amount of players, etc..
I'll see if I can play it tonight..

Ahh yes, here is the read me file from my map
Here is the Read me file that comes with the map. It explains all
=========================================
Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 Map
=========================================
* 2 Player Skirmish Map
* 2 Observation Towers
* 7 Oil Rigs
* 10 Ore Nodes
=========================================
Notes:
=========================================
This map is a 2 player Skirmish map. There is lots of money up for grabs.
Each player starts with 3 Ore Nodes and a single Oil Rig. There are then two ore expansions
each to take. There are two set of island just off the two main islands which are strategic
points on the map with an observation tower and another oil rig. These two little islands are
the only way to get to the 3 Oil Rigs in the middle of the map.
The 3 Oil Rigs in the middle of the map and the two observation towers are indestructible
Forcing you to fight to defend your strategic points instead of just destroying them.
This map is intended to be a high fuled octane match with lots of money up for grabs
and 3 strategic points on the map which needs to be held if you intend to win.

I like the idea of the invincible central structures, it should indeed promote strategy over blind force, but i question the wisdom of there being 3 ore nodes available to you immediately on startup. I personally think 2 would be better, perhaps with another very close by.
Post some screenshots!

3 ore nodes might be a bit too much. It promotes turtling. But for the rest it looks good. I'll play a skirmish game on it one of these days.

I also considered dropping the amount to 2 ore nodes, but wasting sure myself. Have a go at it and see if you think its to much. Im off to work now so ill post a screen tonight. I hope you guys enjoy it

Add more textures and details! The map looks like it'd be fun to play (and I plan on trying it) but if you want it to be really good spice it up!

You are extremely boring. Instead of making idiotic comments, say why it's boring and were he can improve.

I'd rather be blind then being a prick like you. You got the title "noob of the year" more then deserved. I also make maps I and I also give critic on others their maps. The difference is that I give constructiive critic with the sole purpose to let the mapmaker improve in making maps, you on the other hand only give critic to attempt to be cool, which you horribly fail in, and to hurt people. They atleast did the effort to make a "piece of garbage". What did you contribute in a positive way to this community? Nothing.
I kindly ask you to send leave this forums and never come back.

wow, you are so creative with words. What's next, r u gonna sing it?
No, that is NOT a review. A review has a good underlying construction, based and argumentated on facts about the subject. It's also obvious that Gromit does not want a review, but comments about where he can improve.
Looks extremely boring.... :o
I see that your craptastic post really meets those requirements:rolleyes:.
So much for constructive feedback. Tis much better to encourage people. Anyhoot, the layout is good, but the map does need some mixed texturing and a little detailing. But you'll get better as time goes along. The editor is not user friendly. It takes some getting use to.

lol at the arguments, Thanks those who gave constructive critasism. Im working on the detail. The only problem i have found now is the AI tends to get stuck. It wont use the only route to the other base which is the 2 islands to the sides. Ive placed waypoints around the map hoping they would follow it but they still seem to just all group up at the top of the main islands.
And they also seem to focus all fire on the indistructable buildings.
Is there anyway to get them to go around the islands and to stop attacking the indistructable buildings?
Edit: Here is a picture of what i mean. The green arrows is where the AI needs to go and the red cross are where the build up instead and which way they face.

Ey, don't blame me. It is always soviet779 who INTENTIONALLY messes up the topics.
About the map: well, I'm not so fond of symmetric maps in RA3, as they are too many already. I'd also like to point that the land routes are at points far too narrow. You could broaden them a bit. And as Lion said of course, the details should be enhanced.

Any idea on the AI waypoint issue?
Will broadening them stop this from happening?
TBH this is a starter map for me, just to get the feel for it and to find out what to do. My next project will be better. But i must sort these problems first.
So any ideas?

My comment was directed at Soviet, not you truefeel. I should have been more clear on that...sorry.

Yeh you need to use quotes. If you don't, and you don't explicit mention the intended person, it looks like you are actually replying to the person who made the post before you. No hard feelings, though;).
Anyway, the guy is banned, so no worries :D.

But i must sort these problems first.I have not made any maps with the RA3 world builder, so I can't asnwer your question about the AI. However it is possible it might stop the problem when you broaden it. However, you should do it anyways, else you'll have too narrow bottlenecks and people will just camp or more seduced to it.
Well, it does not mean when you are starting, we can't criticise you. You'll need to see critic as a method to improve, not something as offensive or whining;). Of course when you get posts a la soviet779, you should ignore it :p.

Ofc i welcome the critasism more the merrier but i need to sort out this AI thing before i can move on really, ill try the making the paths wider and see what happens then report back.
Thanks

old THREAD but i think som advices would be nice
hi there im used to map building but I havent checked RA3 worldbuilder out yet:rolleyes:
but you should smooth out the edges on the beach and such and add som texture to it, the map got potential ;)
the first thing you should do is thinking of how you want it to be on top of a mountain or ina tropical enviroment
you could increase the haight in the water to give it a natural depth look and some different textures in the water aswell :P
there are many ways to make a nice looking map and like i said your map looks Oky by me
first map?
PS: i like how you do things, make a map you dont used to much time with and post it as a "BETA" and then fix it, nice example for more mapers :wave:
AI problem? its like Generals and C&C 3 WB right?
Go to: Edit > Edit Player List > in the bottem should be "ADD SKRIMISH PLAYERS" and hitt OK! hope that was what you ment :P that makes the AI build and attack like a normal SKRIMISH map
