if i had a billion dollars.
the first thing i would do is keep it a secret for a while.
here is a list of what i would do and in what order.

-go back to work as pizza delivery driver.
-mess with customers, as i do not fear being fired.
-fill a pizza box with hundred dollar bills, deliver it to a house just for kicks.
-see what i could get away with before people catch on and fire me.
-give all my friends 1 million.

(being rich still being kept a secret)

-buy all the houses around my brothers house, so he is last one on his street, and pay the former owners to keep quiet.
-let my brother live in this ghost town for about 3 months, or until he gets really worried.
-starting in one house, have someone dig a tunnel into his basement in, breaking through in the middle of the night. set it up so when he discovers this tunnel, he follows it to the other end and finds a shrine with pictures of him and his family.
-after he freaks out for a little bit, give him a few million dollars.
-give everyone in the family 1 million dollars each, men women and children.
-buy a nice ass house overlooking the lake, fully furnish it, cram my parents into it and give them 10 million with a contract that says they have to spend at least 1 million a year on themselves.

-at least once a week, get a wallet with 50$ and my picture ID with address, and just leave it on the ground somewhere. everyone who returns it with all the money in it, i give them 10k.

assuming i still have over a half a billion dollars left...

-build a office building for our dev team, with living quarters for myself.
-walk around all day with no pants on (At the office).

buy the den games network and shut it down.
(am i joking?)

That's pretty cool.

I remember a study in the Reader's Digest some years ago about intentionally "lost" wallets that they observed to see if people would swipe them or turn them in. The results were fairly uplifting, if I recall.

if i had a billion dollars:

1. invest heavily to ensure future profit, maybe real estate

2. keep the money quiet-secure my own immediate family-nothing grand just a house and savings for kids college (other relatives and friends will NOT know of this money, at least while i am alive)

3. spend some money on certain agendas, such as stopping both human trafficking and kiddie porn.

Nice ideas you have there Thumper. I hope you earn the lottery as long as you leave the DEN as it is. Well, maybe a sponsor but not more than that.:)

And the wallet test, you would be surprised by the results (as Toxic pointed). It would not last that long though. Giving 10k would make you famous (for the good or less good reasons) soon enough, believe me.;)

nope, you could do the wallet thing without giving away your identity. you might be suprised how easy it is to hide the source of money. all you need is a good attourney.

and for the wallet test, i would probably get bored by the tenth time.

I don't think I'd ever get tired of rewarding people with strong morals. Our society needs some reinforcement for the good guys. I tell you, one of the most draining parts of my day is driving to work in rush hour. People getting cut off, blasting their horns at each other, running red lights and nearly causing accidents... That friendly wave you give/receive upon actually encountering courtesy can mean the world.

If I were a driving instructor I'd probably be fired within a month for failing over half the class because they couldn't drive with good awareness and safety.

Yeah, they did two of those, one in a bunch of US cities and another one all over the world.

Yeah they posted statistics regarding percentage returned in the different countries... I don't remember the results of that aspect particularly well...

"If I had a Billion Dollars... I'd be rich."

I'd buy my own place, first off. Nothing fancy, just somewhere so my dad wont have to worry about me and he could fully move to Georgia to be with his Fiance.
I'd attend as much College as humanly possible, pursuing degree's in engineering, buisness, science, philosophy, music, foreign languages (Russian, German, American Sign and Japanese) and Mathmatics. Once I had everything I wanted I'd figure out what I could best be doing. Possibly finding more officiant ways to spend what little fuel resources we have, or a total new sorce of power all together.
Outside of my sister and father, I wouldn't tell anyone of my fortune. I'd help out my friends and family, though, but only as they need it.
Once I started to settle down into a career I'd find a nice bit of land, at least 150 acres, and build a nice little house with a well spaced out garage and I'd collect cars.
For my dads retirement I'd buy him a UH1 Heuy, fully refurbished in any way he desired, with as $1mil worth of fuel (considering I still have the money by then) and I'd also build him a helipad, all so he'll never have to stop doing what he loves.
For my sister, I think she'd like it if I just made sure her car never broke down again. XD

Sci-Fi version

1: Become uber smart.
2: Design the first A.I.
3: Turn 1 Billion into allot more.
4: Become the head of a major corperation.
5: Colunize Antartica as a new nation.
6: Begin Terraforming on Mars.
7: To prevent old age, turn myself into a cyborg.
8: When humanity goes grey in world war 3, I'll take my faithful citizens and leave for Mars.
9: wake up from my dream.

i have concidered welding 2 hummers together side by side and putting a throne on the top in the middle, and rigging it so i can drive from up there.

All I remember was that Mexico scored really, really low on the list. I'm also pretty sure they found no overall correlation between richer and poorer cities or countries in terms of which was more likely to just steal the stuff.

If you're going to invest in something. Make sure it's something everyone will always need. Food, water, and shelter.

If I had a billion dollars I'd build an entire village just to house Den members...Nilsog can be the fire department, KO can run the mechanic shop, and nilloC can run the Pub/Psych Ward. :p

There are all sorts of fun things you could do!

Ive always wanted to buy all the tickets for a band I didnt like and either a) have no-one turn up, or b) give them all to Slayer fans and watch the band be destroyed!

Either way great fun! :D

You'll have to make sure it's a band of emotional crybabies first.... which happens to resemble a large portion of popular music today!

i guess that would do it. i suppose it would be interesting to fill a metallica concert with children. them metalica band members would probably blow a fuse, everytime i see them on tv they are complaining.

I'm seeing them in 3 days - I'll let you know if they complain :p
