When I was new to YR, I thought that the Battle Fortress was overpowered. As my experience with the game grew, I came to believe that the Guardian GI is overpowered, not the BF. I think it is way too good for the price of 400. The only weakness is it's health, and this is resolved by placing it in a vehicle. It has awesome range and damage, along with an excellent rate of fire. It also has the option to stand up and shoot a machine gun. Does anyone agree with me or see it another way. I know the GGI was created to counter early tank rushes and attacks, especially with the BTMs, but for 400?

Well, I kinda disagree. GGIs are very good in BFs and only moderate in IFVs (great for hit and run but you don't do alot of damage with). On the ground they are not very usable due they are so slow. Also note that the machine gun does not do much damage. Overall GGIs make it a bit more difficult for tank rushes, but rocketeers (yes, rocketeers) or desolators inmediately remove it and then it turns out the GGIs are rather a disadvantage. Only on small maps like dune and such 2-3 GGIs on key position can help, but only if both players are very close. Also note that early game you need be carefull not to spend too much money. It might be "only 400 credits", but 400x3=1200, over a tenth of your starting budget.
You have to see the combination GGI+BF as a complete new unit. BFs solves the mobility of the GGIs and GGIs solve the lack of weapons for the BF.

First off, It is most definitely the GGIBF that is overpowered, not the GGI himself. You see, any anti infantry rapes GGIs. This includes GIs, rocketeers, snipers, and whatever else you decide to send. Thier range isn't that large, only 2 cells larger than a main battle tank's, and it's only good specialty is vehicles. It does very little structure and infantry damage.
Now its main weaknesses are: Its mobility, and it's health, and that they are infantry targets when out in the open.
The GGIBF covers those weaknesses and more. Did you know that a GGI in a GGIBF does 10 extra damage per missile, has 2 cells longer range than normal, and fires faster?
So, basically, for 4k, you get: Decently fast (really; faster than an apocalypse), long range (the range of a prism tank), extremely powerful (250 damage per 40 frames; that's monstrous), very tough (has the HP of an apoc), and not to mention adjustable (can put other guys inside) vehicle.
An all-purpose tank-eating machine, and for 600$ extra you can add super anti infantry support to that.

I'd probably be Korea/America so I'd have that SEAL. Still though, you get uber-rape with a BF, 1 SEAL and 4 GGIs for $4600. Though, if it were me, I'd be Britain and have a trio of Sniper IFVs handy. Bam, instant raep machines.

I guess you guys are right idk I just don't like GGIs being a Soviet player. I don't read the rules.ini file and wouldn't know most of it. But thanks for the info.

Well, modders do have alot more the details to their hands and that can be in some cases advantageous. However, most things you'll learn anywayz playing online.
Still though, reading and interpreting the lines in the rulesmd.ini does give you some deeper looking in the game. A common idea online players have is that lasher tanks are weaker then grizzlies, which appears not to be true when reading the rulesmd.

Oh yes. We know more about the game than you'd care to know. http://forums.freedomstudios.net/images/smilies/tongue2.gif

The biggest irony is that an online player with less information on their hand would still be able to beat a modder in 99% of the cases :p.

We play to mod, not play to be competitive. Though not all of us are completely useless online. http://forums.freedomstudios.net/images/smilies/tongue2.gif
