Howdy Sgt Wild. :cool:

Yes they are in the .big files, you will need a .BIG extractor like FinalBig or OSBigEditor to extract them.

The multiplayer (skirmish) maps are located in Data/MapsMultiplayer.big in your RA3 install directory however, the filenames inside the .Big archive are NOT named the same as they are in the map selection menu ingame, they are actually named after the person who made the map @ EALA. :|

It is very difficult to find out the name of the map that is displayed ingame without knowing them all off-by-heart. :chin:

A little more info about the way they have named them is;
map_<type>_<players>_<mapper>(<version>)
so one i'm looking at now is map_mp_2_black1b.map
which is this map;

When using OS Big Editor, the AppData folder in Vista is hidden and will not be displayed when you click "Extract All" from the Edit menu. To workaround this you need to extract the maps to somewhere else on your hard drive and them cut and paste them in your Red Alert 3 maps folder.

Hope this helps :)

Right click the folder the map is in, or highlight all of the items in that folder and go Properties > Uncheck Read Only > Apply > Ok > then Try to load it again :)

Hope this helps,

ok did you use FinalBig to extract the maps? Because FinalBig wont work properly with Red Alert 3, you need to use OS Big Editor to successfully extract the maps and other data

Hello

I used the OS big editor to open the files, and now when WorldBuilder opens the .MAPs all I get is a black screen in the place of the map.

Please throw me a bone.
