View Full Version : Lion's Weekend Blurb - Sat., Sun., March 21-22
Check out THIS VIDEO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACDSkCeEfWs) on YouTube. That video shows the new 'IN' thing that kids are doing for kicks. I must live under a rock cause it's the first I've heard of smokin smarties, and from what I understand it's been going on for a while now. It even got the attention of Fox News this week. Anyhoot, I'm of the opinion it's much ado about nothing. Just about all kids go through a phase in their life where they want to look cool and grown-up. It's been going on for years and years. When I was a kid we smoked long fibered stems that grew on cigar trees. We actually lit em up and drew smoke. Nasty tasting stuff! Now before anyone gets their dandruff up, I'm NOT stating that smoking real cigarettes makes a person grown-up, or heralds in manhood. In years past it was mostly older peeps who smoked cigs, hence why it was associated with being grown-up. Nowadays lots of teens have picked up the habit. I remember growing up as a teen I wanted to look and act older than I actually was, and I see nothing wrong with that. There will also come a time in your life as you grow older that you'll want to look and act younger. Funny how life works like that. My advice is to enjoy your youth whilst you have it. Teens are the coolest peeps on Earth. There are some adults that would disagree with me, but as they age, some forget they too were teens once upon a time.

Well, the smoking smarties trick is atleast far more healthier then the real smoking. I hope that this IN thing stays for years :p.

Honestly, I'm guessing this is a joke.
Honestly, I'm guessing this is a joke.
Well...I don't think it is a joke cause it was shown on national TV (Fox News) this week.

Fox tends to sensationalize and jump on bandwagons pretty quick. It's possible they could've gotten some parts of it exaggerated or typo-ed, so I wouldn't rule out them being wrong.

Just because it's national TV doesn't mean it isn't a complete joke... Fox News is known (at least in my experiences) for being the gutter-whore of social news commentary.
Just as MSNBC is known for giving horrible stock market advice. :p
For the record: I think that video is ****ing hilarious!

Fox (or a local affiliate) also did that "report" on anonymous. So yeah.
Anyways, I watched the full video now. Its just pretend smoking, using the dust that come from crushing them. There is no high, no addiction, no anything (though I could imagine that all the dust could make you cough for a bit). Just kids trying to look cool (and looking more like retards in the process, but eh, they're kids, hopefully they'll eventually realize that smoking is stupid).

I remember growing up as a teen I wanted to look and act older than I actually was, and I see nothing wrong with that. There will also come a time in your life as you grow older that you'll want to look and act younger. Funny how life works like that.Tbh, it makes a lot of sense. Our body and physical potential is fully developed between the middle 20's to middle 30's, and after that theoretically we all start suffering gradual, even if very slow, degradation. Therefore many may consider (with arguable reason) these the golden ages. Youngers want to reach it and olders want to keep it. Simple as that usually.:| I'd like to stay like as i'm now, forever.
Note that i'm not considering life experiences into this. Just physical.
I don't mean to forget this is also the ages where one starts to gain independent status, be it finantial be it emotional or even social. Starts to be considered an autonomous mind with no parental control. Another good look into the adult age.
My advice is to enjoy your youth whilst you have it. Teens are the coolest peeps on Earth. There are some adults that would disagree with me, but as they age, some forget they too were teens once upon a time. One could rewrite your advice as "don't you hurry into growing, take your time". I would advice into avoiding abuses though. Sooner or later abuses will show you the bill.
While i wouldn't like to go back to my teen ages since i had some not so good experiences, i do still like to remember many steps through it. Nevertheless i do love a lot my life since my 18 and forth, particularly since my 25. As i said above "I'd like to stay like as i'm now, forever":D Sometime i do feel a little jealous of Peter Pan.

FOX reported on "Jenkem" (a.k.a. "butt hash")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UsNbsjpuLc
This is a totally false internet rumour:
