Hey guys, I just joined a few minutes ago because this looked like a great place to discuss RA2. Anyways I've worn out all I can in my game (done both of the campaigns, plenty of skirmishes, tried online, didn't work :( ) moving on ... I've gotten into map making but I'm having a slight problem. I made a single player mission in which the player must break Yuri Prime out of an Allied prison. The player starts out with some initiates, yuri clones, and a lasher light tank. The player then must destroy a building to end the mission. The problem is that when I try to begin the mission, the informant simply says "Mission complete and the hud pops up with a black battlefield and the mission complete graphic. What could be causing this problem? Is Yuri not a playable campaign faction? Are my triggers messed up? Any sort of help is appreciated. I really want to make this map work. :color1:

that's WAY too general for us to make any conclusions. I appreciate that you took the time to go into detail, but for your particular problem, there are so many possible problems it would simply be best to just post the map up on the boards and let us have a look at it.

I do have a few questions i'd like answered though;

1) Is the filename of the map all01umd.map or sov01umd.map?

2) is a player 1 start position (waypoint 98 and 99, adjecent to each other) defined?

3) have you set up your houses correctly, with one player-controlled house (in this case i'm guessing yuri; that would explain the shroud)?

4) is your "game-ending" trigger set to disabled or triggered by an event that CANNOT possibly be fulfilled at the start of the game?

BTW, yes, yuri can be a playable house in campaigns. It has been used in numerous mods.

Thank you for responding, sorry about being so general.

The filename of the map is all01umd.map. The Player start positions are adjacent, but what do you mean by defined? Yes, the player house is Yuri but why would that explain the shroud? The "game-ending" trigger is set to end the game AFTER the attached building is destroyed, being the prison.

Thanks for helping. :color3:

By defined, I simply mean placed on the map. Like so:

Well, if that is the case, and you have your houses and triggers set up correctly, then I cannot come up with any conclusions based on the info you have provided me. Easiest way would be to post your map here in an attachment in a zip folder and let me have a quick once-over of it.

And sorry my perends ere poorly worded, I didn't mean that having yuri house would explain the shroud, I meant that if you didnt have a player house set properly then that would explain the shroud.

One last question; what is the event that triggers the game end and is the trigger that triggers the game end disabled by default or enabled by default?

Well I solved the first problem thanks to you. It turns out the win and lose triggers were both enabled by default. What a stupid mistake. I'm sorry for wasting your time :(. However there is still a problem, the shroud still exists. If you can't help me here I will upload the map in the morning.

I think the shroud is persisting simply because you don't have any units under your control; is that correct?

Remember in Singleplayer campaign you DO NOT get a free MCV at game start; EVERYTHING has to be placed on the map, owned by the appropriate house, before the game starts (with the exception of scripted units, but that's kind of obvious).

And don't worry, it takes me but 5 minutes to reply; besides everybody starts somewhere, and it's never time wasted to learn something new.

Thanks :) although they are owned by the Yuri house. Maybe I have to make them selectable through a trigger? I don't know, I'll just try later. Thanks for your help :D
