Hello everyone.
I have been playing red alert 2 since it was released. I have recentley upgraded my PC to an AMD 2400+ with 256Mb NVIDIA graphics and Windows XP.
Whenever I try to install Red Alert 2 the pop up window appears "Warning. Military software detected", and I click on the Install button. But then a little white square appears in the middle of the screen and windows says "Setup.exe has a problem and will now terminate. Do you want to send an error report?"
I have tried downloading the latest drivers for my graphics card but It had no effect. I also borrowed my friends copy of the game and I get the same error.
Is there a problem with NVIDIA or Windows XP and this game?
I tried the official site technical support pages but they were useless.
Please help
Thanks

:\ I wouldn`t put too much trust in the 'latest' nVidia drivers...but that error does not sound grafix-card related.. :shifty:
It`s a CD reading problem, by the sound of it......or it could be the old 2 CD-drives error...

you could try using Win98 compatibility mode and/or copy the contents of the CD-ROM to your hard drive and install it from there.

42.72 are the best drivers for RA2 imo
that happens, and its to do with the cds im pretty sure, if you have got 2 cd drives (as has been mentioned) then unplug one and install, and get the crack for it later

I am having this problem too. I'm running XP Pro on my new PC, and when I try to install the game I get "An error has occurred in sextup.exe". I have tried running it in compatability mode and also tried copying the CD files to the HDD and installing from there. Neither of these fix the issue.

I have a Dell Latitude D600 and I believe it has a nVidia board, and a PentuimM 1.4Ghz. I can't put C&C3 on this machine and was going to load RA2 to have on the notebook.
Anyway, running setup.exe continually gets the same "encounterd a problem..." and does not allow me to install the game.'
Anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks in advance!!

XP Pro SP2
1GB RAM
60GB HDD
I did try the Win95 & 98 Compatibility modes. I just installed Generals and it's a little choppy - but it installed fine...

when you say "continually" you mean you keep running it over and over?
perhaps you are being impatient, just run it once and leave it a while.
also are you installing RA2 original or RA2 from "The First Decade"?

I have waited and it keeps stopping with the dialog box that Setup encountered a problem and needs to quit. Do you want to send an error report..."
I tried the compatibility modes with no luck...
It is the original RA2 that I had as I have each version & expansion.
I tried starting with RA2 - YR - but that quit saying I needed RA2 loaded first...
Thanks for looking!!
