Lion's Daily Blurb - Mon., Tues., Nov. 3-4

Here we go with the start of a new week, and here in the USA we will be electing a new President on November 4th. That is of course IF everything goes smooth and legal. I'll be glad when it's all over and it's a done deal. Anyhoot, the good news is gas prices continue to drop in my neck of da woods. We're now below $2.50 a gallon. In about two weeks after I get caught up on some of my work, I'm gonna take a couple day trip to the Eastern shore whilst the gas prices are still down. I had planned on going back in September but got tied up with work. Well, at least the beach won't be crowded. I mainly go to smell the salt air, check out the boats, feed the seagulls, and of course sample some of the good food.

Gas prices have fallen from 1.45 a litre a month ago to about a national average of 95 cents a litre in the past month, that is a goodthing indeed. but it wont last and this happeneing only shows all of us how bad it has become, it has fallen because noone is buying it, at least not like they were. Consumption is down, that is the reason why.


As far as it being all legal like, i wouldnt count on that. Here something i watched last night, sink your teeth into this if ya got time, its scary to be honest.

I know, im a link whore, but i like to be informed, since my job requires me to know all i can about who, what ,when, where, how and why. It also helps me sleep at night, hoping im doing the right thing and im on the right side. sometimes i wonder when i see see things like this. When a Congressman owns the company who makes the voting machines used in his district and are used in his election process, how in the hell is that not a conflict? what???? is that what it come down to? people being this naive? i refuse to believe 90 per cent of Americans are morons, but please, really, how does this happen and why is nothing done? Fair elections? i think not.

Im sure some people will watch this stuff and come up with the usual nonsense about how its conspiracy theory, blah, blah. That is not unexpected, i know from experience most people do not think thier Government or Politicians would stoop to these levels. This should be a wakeup call to those who think otherwise.

lol. Just admit it, people liked Bush in 2004, and Kerry was terrible.

Well, i was not around much during that election, didnt know much about Kerry, i was out of Country during that time. But regardless, after what i saw and the debacle associated with that election, i still maintain it was stolen and the votes not counted in Florida and the Black People being disqualified at the polls by the thousands, and the irregualrities in the voting process, well, that is not Free and Fair Elections by any standard of comparison.

But, thats my opinion. As usual, your quite entitled to yours. But i think its again a case of people not wanting to believe that thier Politicians would do such a thing as fix an election. i dont have that kind of trust in suits and never have. for good reason in my mind.

I heard something about to. Although I'm sided to think that it is true, I will not take it for granted completely. However It is quite believable that bush won his second election unfair. Sorry if I offend somebody, but you could just as well put a chimpansee behind the presidental desk. You would not know the difference.

I hope also it does happen (if it happened), but I think not. This election has alot more attention then the previous one and I also believe that the people are watching out for fraud.

Slapper, the voting fraud was in the 2000 election when the courts said Bush won.

However, here are some things to keep in mind.

1. We have both the popular vote and the electoral college. Republicans prefer the electoral college given to us by the founders, while the Democrats prefer the popular vote. Both parties argue that their prefered method should be used to decide who becomes President.

I prefer the electoral college, because the founders of America intended for that to be what decides who becomes President, not mass populism. The founders intended for educated and informed individuals to from across the nation to help decide who becomes President, not whichever guy is more popular.

Some politicians have proposed we award the electoral vote to the winner of the national popular vote, meaning your state could vote for one party, but have the electoral votes given to the other party. This would be a gross violation of the Constitution, and I oppose it.


2. The Supreme Court has a long history of rewriting and reinterpreting the Constitution, they did it all the timer during the 20th century, allowing the progressives to rewrite and reinterpret it.

BOTH Political parties have appointed party loyalists to the Supreme Court in the form of textualists and Originalists for the Republicans and living constitutionalists and others for the Democrats. The parties only appoint someone who is going to rule their way on the major issues.

For instance, NLRB v Jones and Laughlin Steel reversed 150 years of Supreme Court precedence by legalizging the new deal! Previous Supreme Court cases like Schecter Poultry vs US had ruled 9-0 the new deal was illegal, but President Roosevelt threatened to pakc the courts with New Deal supporters, so the court gave in and ruled the New Deal legal.


3. In 2000 with Bush v Gore, the Republicans used the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment to justify throwing out ballots. Democrats on the court had a long history of supporting equal protection, but they opposed it because they didn't want Gore to lose.

4. There were voting disputes back when John F. Kennedy ran versus Richard Nixon, nothing that changed the outcome of who won, but voting problems jus the same.


5. We need to wipe the slate clean and start over! Just revert back to the original document our founding fathers gave us, and start from there. BOTH parties have rewritten and reinterpreted it so many times that the founders would probably be amazed at what it looks like now.

So you want to go back to a time where women could not vote? reverting back to the original would not really solve anything. Like I said before, the Constitution was made to be flexible with the changing times. the founding fathers did think it would last long in it's original state.


Glad the gas prices are dropping but I hope we don't take this as a time to relax on finding ways to replace oil where ever we can.

Actually the majority of both parties support the popular vote, Democrats somewhat more so than Republicans but thats probably just due to latent resentment over 2000 (if a Democrat had one the electoral vote but not the popular in 2000, then Dems would probably be more in favor of the electoral). The only strong opposition to changing to the popular vote comes from politicians themselves, its a lot cheaper for the parties to run Presidential campaigns in a few swing states than all over the country. Thats why you won't hear anyone from either party advocating a change.

Yes, but its just that rumors. What credible evidence do you have to support your claim? Decision must be based on logic, evidence and common sense, not mere rumors or morality.

Politicians want you to believe and blindly follow whatever they say. They try to sway our vote with one liners and morality. If we required the politicians to go into detail during the debates, their moral arguments would quickly collapse and logice/ evidence would derail many of their arguments/ ideas.

What I want to see in a Presidential debate is one of the old style Lincoln Douglas debates where each candidate gets on stage and speaks for 90 minutes on whatever topics they want, with no moderators or prearanged topics/ questions. When you only speak for 2-5 minutes, you cna throw out a moral argument and win, but when you have to start going into detail with evidence/ facts, morality doesn't always hold up to scrutiny.
