psychic beacon that controls buildings?

is there any way to creat a psychic beacon that takes control of a certain area buildings and units alike?

Would this be a buildable structure? Is it a superweapon, or does it just need to work once?

I suggest a modified Yuri SW for a SW weapon. If you just need it for game effect, then use map triggers.

it is the psychic beacon that was in the last soviet mission from yuris revenge. it would be a builable structure and when you buildit, within a certain radius it take over what ever is in range.

thanks for trying to help eric, but neither of those issues pertain to the question he is asking.

So, Eric I want to ask you:

Are you wanting this to be a one-shot BOOM and permanent mind control everything that is near the psychic beacon when it is built, but DO NOT mind control any other objects after that?

Or are you looking for a basic mind control weapon that can continuously fire after being placed, but have unlimited amount of captures and the ability to capture buildings?

For the first one you would need to mimic the psychic dominator weapon somehow. I am not entirely sure how possible it is without actually firing it as a superweapon but it's worth looking into...

The second one is simply a copy of Yuri Prime's weapon, but simple increase the Damage= value to some very large number (I'd suggest around 100, because having more than that many links in one mind controller object might lag) to increase the number of things it can mind control.

As Apple has stated, those are your best options. I was really lazy when I posted earlier, but I'll swear I've heard your questions asked before on RA2-modding forums, so this information should be generally available.

As for another method, you can of course use Triggers in FA2 to duplicate a global mind control scenario as well.

Really it's all about what you want, and how you want it to work in game. From an SW, to Triggers, to a Mind control weapon, etc.....

well apple, I suppose what im looking for is the first one. for example in the campaign on the last soviet mission he had control of 2 bases, soviet and allied. is it possible to make a structure buildable to when it deploys anything in its rangeis captured and then the weapon is no longer effective on anything else but what it already controlled?

One thing you might want to experiment with is making a weapon with an extremely rapid rate of fire and a large number of bursts, but giving the building firing it only 1 irreplaceable ammo for the weapon. While I'm sure that this in itself won't work, it can't hurt to mess around with the general idea for a bit, and you may end up with something close enough to your original plan eventually.

That actually isn't a terrible idea... I'd say set Hospital=yes or Armory=yes and set the ammo to something like 15. Then make a permanent mind control weapon with ROF=0 and you will mind control any of 15 objects in the vicinity of the beacon. Obviously this has disadvantages, like it being able to fire afterwards if there were less than 15 objects immediately after deploying, and if there are more when deployed then only 15 will be MCed.

But it's quite probably the only way, unless Corsarus' idea of Burst= works with mindcontrol weapons, which I think it doesn't.

(BTW, the Armory=yes or Hospital=yes mentioned above is purely to make it so the beacon doesn't reload immediately after each shot, like it would normally-- yes, the ammo system is very messed up and TBH should only be used for aircraft and a very small subset of other cases.)
